United winger David Amoo (DA) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) following Carlisle's Capital One Cup penalty shootout victory over Blackburn, Amoo saying the win was a great lift for the team:

DA

Just a good night for the team, it is fantastic, especially after Saturday it is just great to have a lift for the team, and it was a great night for us.

JP

How did you manage to put that performance in after the disappointment of the start at the weekend?

DA

I was just saying to one of the boys that it is just weird, it is a funny game, you get smashed 5-1 and your head is in your arms. Saturday night you are thinking flipping hell what did I do wrong, what do we need to improve. You are just confused then you are looking at it that we have got Blackburn on Wednesday and then you are thinking that they are a great side but you just beat them. It is a funny game, it is just so funny.

JP

What was the atmosphere like in your changing room after a performance like that, beating a team like that?

DA

It is fantastic, I think we really worked hard, we kept on even though we were behind at times, we kept on and we worked hard and we deserved it, I think we really deserved it.

JP

Six youth team graduates on the pitch there at the end, what does that say about the future of this club?

DA

It is just fantastic you know, it shows the youth academy is doing really well. Pat Brough came on and he was tremendous, you wouldn’t have known it was his first professional game. He has been training with us and he has been impressive, so I am really glad for him that he is doing really well.

JP

We even joked with Greg down there that we don’t know what to term him because he is not even a professional footballer yet, so it is a professional debut, we don’t even know what to call it?

DA

Yeah, he is a good lad, he works hard in training and he deserves it. He has played really well tonight and I hope he keeps it going.

JP

And you are barely out of youth football, you are only a couple of years out of it yourself, what did it feel like to get those two goals, three goals in your opening two games for Carlisle.

DA

Do you know what? I have scored more goals in these two games than I did in the whole of last season. I only scored two in the whole of last season, and to get three in the first week of season, I have worked hard in pre-season and I just need to carry on, keep going and keep up the momentum. I think it has been a decent solid start and I just need to keep it going.

JP

And after that stop-start season for you last year, what did it feel like to get such an important goal, I mean both goals were  good but that last one was a brilliant goal and it was so important as well?

DA

It is good, I am enjoying it here, I have said that a few times but I am genuinely enjoying it. I feel like I am part of a team that wants me to be here, I think it is different when you are in a team and they want you to be here, I am really enjoying it and I just want to carry it on.

JP

You are aware that they are not booing you when you score, it is just their way of chanting your name?

DA

Yeah, I know that.

JP

I think we are going to hear a bit more of that sort of booing sound aren’t we if you keep up this sort of form?

DA

Fingers crossed, I just want to keep working hard and I just want to carry on going.
