" The scoreline was a little flattering but we are through. We are also still in Europe and our league form is picking up, so things are starting to go our way. I was not surprised by Carlisle, but I was disappointed that when we went one up early on, we were not able to build on that and control the game better.
" It was a battle, but we expected that. The same thing happened last season in the third round when we struggled to a 1-0 win at Macclesfield, but still ended up reaching the final. That is what the FA Cup is all about. Maybe the save from Tim Howard pushing that shot onto the bar got us through. We were disappointed with a lot of things but I cannot be disappointed with the result given we had nine players injured and two away at the African Nations Cup, plus one suspended.
" I can't be disappointed because I'm having to ride a bit of a storm at moment because we've not got as many players available as we'd like. It wasn't our best performance by a long way, our performances recently have been really good but the result today was better. We have probably played better recently and not had the goals but we got some in the end today.
" James Vaughan read the situation for the first goal and rounded the goalkeeper (Adam Collin), it was excellent, and then Seamus Coleman came on and Kieran (Agard) came on and actually got us it. So it is good, it is the one thing we can't be faulted for, we give some young players some opportunities and because of that the young boys reward you. Seamus had to come on because Tony Hibbert had a groin strain and it worked for us with him getting forward. Kieran as we know is quick and wants to run so they made a contribution which was really good.
" They have taken their chances well, it is difficult, it is never easy to put in young boys because today we basically we had eleven seniors on the pitch, after that when you look behind you they are youngsters. Sometimes it is not the sort of game you would put them on to win you the game. But they all had a contribution and it will be great for their confidence and belief as well when they do go on the pitch. "
