Owls boss Gary Megson spoke to his club's official website after his side's 3-2 League One defeat against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Megson saying Wednesday should have had the match wrapped up by half-time :
"It should have been all over before half-time, 1-0 up and then Chris Lines had a great chance to score, didn't connect well enough, and then we had another and we had quite a few chances to see it off. Then the beginning of the second-half we started OK but after about five minutes we had about 15 minutes of just crazy football, and found ourselves in a game that we were controlling at the end of the first-half, found ourselves 3-1 down.
"Then of course with Gary (Madine's) sending-off it made life even more difficult. But, it would I think have been a different game had we got that second goal before the break because I think it would have been all over to be honest with you, because they did nowt in the first-half, we have had all the chances, we have had all the pressure, I thought we played some decent stuff and we didn't want the half-time whistle to come.
"It wasn't a case of starting badly in the second-half because in the first four or five minutes it is just status quo, we are just keeping going again. But, then once they got the first goal they came into it a little bit and we went missing on two or three occasions. There was no sign of it coming but once a club gets that momentum, we had it in the first bit and needed to score again. But, once you get that it just enables you a little bit and you push on.
"We needed to get hold of the ball, needed to calm down and we didn't do that, consequently we went from not cruising, but in no problems at all at 1-0 to suddenly finding ourselves 3-1 down and then having to completely change everything over to try to get ourselves back into it. Then I don't know what to make of the red card because from what I saw Gary has gone jumping in, and whether he has gone to block it or whatever he did, but he hasn't touched anybody so he seems to have been sent off for kicking fresh air.
"We were close to getting one at the end but I don't know what happened to us because for the first-half we have controlled it, for most of the second-half we have controlled it, just a 15 minute spell where we completely lost it and everything they hit has gone in. But, we found ourselves, I don't know how many games ago, but we found ourselves on the back of a right good hiding at Stevenage and then went on a decent run. We have been beat, it was going to end at some point, we have got to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and go again.
"We put a lot of stall by scoring the first goal and that is the first time this season we have scored first and not won the game. But, it has happened, we have got to deal with it, our support again was fantastic coming here up tonight, miles away from home. It was difficult for us, but I thought we overcame all the difficulties in the first-half, in the second-half we didn't."
