" We have got Michael Liddle in at the club at the minute from Sunderland and we have got Evan Horwood behind him, so obviously Darren (Campion) as a left-back is going to find his chances limited. The loan system is sometimes good because it gives players the chance to get games at a good and competitive level.
" So Darren has obviously seen that as well and he has decided to get his games in the next month. It is a lot better playing games like that than it is training and playing in our reserves, so we are all comfortable with that one.
" A long-term future at Carlisle is up to Darren, obviously we have got two left-backs at the moment. He has got to go to Workington, do what he has to do and then come back and prove to everybody that he is worthy of a place at the club.
" There are no guarantees yes and there are no guarantees no, again that is all down to Darren and the way that he performs between now and the end of the season. Danny (Carlton) has done OK, they are pleased with him at Morecambe so he is going to get more games and more first-team games which again is better for me to have him playing than not playing.
" At the minute we are obviously reluctant to say that we have got him (Graham Kavanagh) for another month because all the paperwork hasn't been completed yet. We have a verbal agreement with Sunderland though that he is going to come in and stay with us until January 3rd. "
" Obviously that gives a new Sunderland manager or Ricky (Sbragia) if he gets the job time to recall him and assess what they want to do with Graham. We have a verbal agreement though to bring him to the club until January 3rd, we are just waiting to rubberstamp that with the paperwork and hopefully that will be done by Monday.
" It is guesswork at the minute, I know what Graham wants to do and I know what I would like to do, but it is down to the people at Sunderland. At the minute it is difficult to ask the question because, although I have spoken to Ricky quite a lot, and I know Ricky quite well, he can't give the answers we want because he is in a similar position to me. He is in a temporary position but he has given me every assurance that he will help us to the January window then we will have to wait and see what happens at their club before we can take that one further.
" I have always made it plain and clear that I would like a coach to come in, and a younger coach. Dennis (Booth) has his role and it is a very good role, and he works closely with me on other things. I am on the training ground doing the coaching but everybody knows that I would like a coach.
" Graham, if that is the avenue that he wants to go down, we would look at that later on. At the minute though people are making a lot of assumptions and it is all news to me. He is looking to do that I think eventually but we will have to wait and see what happens with that one.
" It is the nice side of the job that we have been able to offer the two lads (Tom Aldred and Jonny Blake) professional contracts. Their first goal when they signed as youth players is to get there and to become a professional player. We have found that with what they have done and getting themselves in the squad and being on the substitutes bench, that that was enough to give them that opportunity.
" The good thing is that a lot of these lads coming through the youth side are local boys. I think that if we get three or four Carlisle lads born and bred on the pitch playing for the first-team then it just adds a bit of excitement and a bit of interest around the town. So I think that that has got to be good for the club. "
" I am on the back-foot a little bit with other contracts because the players' contracts have not been dealt with. It is common knowledge that we have a few out of sorts at the end of the season. It is something that we have got to address, I have spoken to two or three players this week about their situation. We have got the initial round of talks over and done with, it is something that I will be pressing on with with the rest of the guys.
" Hopefully we can get something resolved in the really near future rather than let it drag on into the middle of January when obviously the situation becomes different. So it is something that I am on with along with a lot of other things. We are trying to change things around and deal with things as they happen but that it is a priority issue and it is something that we are on with at the minute.
" I think that Leicester are doing a lot of things right to be honest, they are coming in there at the top of the league and they have had a really good run. We have got near enough everybody fit and available though, so the selection problems are a headache for me but they are a nice headache at last that we have got everybody near enough available. We go to the game tomorrow having had a nice week on the training ground, the spirit seems very, very good, the focus is good and we are quietly confident that we can do really well tomorrow.
" We have been making progress on transfers for the last three months to be honest, that is work that Dennis and myself have done behind the scenes. We have a list of targets, we have a list of players that we are hoping that we can try to go for, whether they could become available, whether their clubs will let them go is another issue.
" Talks have already started with the clubs though to see if the availability is there and to see if we can make the deals happen. It is not quite as easy as a lot of people think but we are already doing it and that process could go on right to the end of January. We are hoping that we may be able to do something before that, but sometimes you wait for the big clubs to do their business for us to then work off the back of that when other players then become available. "
