Blues boss Greg Abbott
United boss Greg Abbott (GA) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) at Monday morning's press conference for the local media, Abbott first talking about Millwall-loanee Jason Price's efforts in Carlisle's 2-1 home win over Colchester on Saturday :

" Jason Price did alright, he is the type of player we have been missing I think. We know what he has done in the past and he came and he looked like he enjoyed himself. He contributed to our performance and he gave us a platform to play off, and he his happy with himself and we are happy with him. By the sounds of it all the fans are happy too so it is a winner all the way round.

" But we need a lot more of that from him and one game doesn't make the complete deal so we are looking at him to come on and play eight or nine games for us at the same levels. If he can do that then he has been terrific but he certainly got himself off to a great start for us.

" Any player we lose is going to be a miss, and I want to carve this debate to pieces right here and now, the Tom Taiwo and Paul Thirlwell situation, because we have got Paul that will come in and do a fantastic job for us, as would Tom. Each different players in their own rights have got different strengths and weaknesses and we are not going to be any weaker with Tom out or Paul in or vice versa.

" We have got a terrific midfield, five players that could probably get into any League One team in the division and that is what we are looking for. If we can get that strength and depth throughout the club in all the different positions then we are going to be a really good side eventually. But there is building work still being done and we are on with that. "

" I was upset on Saturday because I have got family in the stand and I love what I do. Your passion to an extent, people say that if you don't show any passion then you are not passionate and if you show too much passion you are a lunatic. Well if I am a lunatic at times then so be it but all I was doing was waving to my two lads that were sat in the stand.

" They (the Colchester bench) took objection and I thought the way they took objection was wrong. I did no gesture towards their bench whatsoever and I never have done and infact I rarely celebrate goals to that extent. But with the situation and the way we had gone down to ten men and my players doing me proud on the pitch, you felt like part of them and it was an achievement.

" That was all I was doing, so when we shook hands and we spoke with Joe (Dunne) afterwards and we had a bit of a laugh about it that the referee (Jock Waugh) could have seen common sense. Because there was no verbal abuse or no real confrontation, it was just two excitable benches, me excited that we had scored and them a little bit upset that they had conceded a goal. I think they should have let it ride really but that is that situation.

" You won't get a definitive answer on how long Joe Anyinsah is going to be out because people don't give them, because if I said two weeks and he is not fit in two weeks then I am a liar. So I am not going to argue with nature, when he is fit he will be fit and we are hopeful that it will be no longer than another three weeks. But that is only a hope, it is not a statement.

" The quicker we get Joe round the team and Darryl (Duffy) and Dobes (Scott Dobie) the better because obviously we need striking options. I have got hope that they will all be back round or about the Wembley weekend, back in training I would hope. "

" But again, it is not a statement, it is a hopeful chant and I think Dolly (Neil Dalton) will endorse that. But he is hopeful as well that they can be back around the training pitch by then. I will let you know as soon as anything happens on bringing someone in, I will let you know, we are trying. If we can we will but there is nothing doing right now.

" I thought Saturday was fantastic, we talked about the club being united and everybody wants to see a certain way of football and a certain type of football and a certain result. But I think when you gather together and everybody near enough to a man, in adversity sometimes it takes something like that to bring it all together. But certainly we probably benefitted from the sending off more than them because it didn't half bring our club together and we went on to produce a performance full of character.

" There is an obvious shortage of money out there but if people can come through and see that sort of excitement then the gates will only improve. But I think a lot of it is down to the shortage of money, the Wembley situation, everybody saving up to go there, we can't be too critical of the size of the gates when I don't think it is down too much to the standard of football.

" I think the football is a lot to do with the shortage of money too so you marry those two things off and that is why the gates are suffering a little bit. But let's hope that in turn everybody recovers and we can get the gates back up to where we need them, and we need around the 6,000 or 7,000 minimum mark.

" I would like to show everybody that we have improved since the Yeovil game because the first-half was poor. But we have kicked on from then so we think we are in better shape to take them on now than we were then. We are looking forward to tomorrow, which again is another big game against a team round or about the same position as us and we are looking for another victory, it is as simple as that. "
