JP
You must be delighted with that one in the end I guess?
GA
We are in the end, we need to win games, we want to win games. We have come to a very, very difficult place and we have got three points and we go on our long journey back very, very happy.
JP
You must have been close to heartbreak there when they equalised in the 90th minute. But some response from your players, in particular a man (Richard Offiong) who has found goals hard to come by but he has certainly shown he was Johnny on the spot there.
GA
Yeah, we got a bit nervous in the second-half, for the middle period we were comfortable until about 70 minutes or whatever it was, I don't know what the actual time was of their first goal. But we were reasonably comfortable and the game was going nowhere, we are happy enough to see it out and we think we are going to win it 2-0 at a canter.
But they get a goal and then we got a bit nervous and we got a bit edgy and we got rocked back. That is why we made the change, we went 4-4-2 and we stopped them playing high up the pitch. Although we conceded the second we have found a bit of character to win the game 3-2. To be fair it couldn't have gone to a better person the goal, Richard has needed that one and he was Johnny on the spot off the back of Gary Madine's terrific effort which hits the inside of the post.
JP
It was very good that, how important was that for you to see that from your strikers? Two players who have been struggling at times for Carlisle United but they have really pushed the issue there and made sure that Carlisle United didn't let this victory slip.
GA
Well we don't think Joe Anyinsah has been struggling, we think he is a terrific player.
JP
No, not Joe, Offiong and (Gary) Madine.
GA
Oh, sorry, well they have come on and they have both done their job haven't they. Gary has come back in with a really good attitude and a really good appetite. So that looks better for him and it looks better for us because he has come on and knocked a few people about, which is what we want him to do.
Richard we know has got pace and he has got a knack for a goal, he has scored loads of goals in Scotland and we have seen him react quickest. It is not an easy finish to be fair but he slotted it in really nicely. We have got a long journey home and we can take a lot of credit for the fact we have got three points tonight.
JP
It would have been easy for him as well there to blast it but he didn't, he picked his spot and that must be good for you to see?
GA
It will give him confidence and that is what we need, we need him to have a nice feeling about his goal and he has got the winner in a terrific, exciting game.
JP
Let's talk about Joe Anyinsah as well, you picked him out there, certainly has been looking to make his place in the team and three goals in quite quick succession now including two tonight. The first was a really good one as well.
GA
Well if you count the one which gets headed off the line he could have had his hat-trick in the first-half. But Joe has got pace and power and he is an absolute handful for people if we can get him in the right areas, get the ball into him, down the sides of people.
And then in and around the box get it into his feet, but in the first-half he was near enough unplayable and in the second-half he put a shift in for the rest of the team and he was absolutely shot. But that is what we want from him and the goals make his situation better don't they, everybody judges centre-forwards by the amount of goals they score and I think he is now creeping up the scoring charts, so that is good for him.
JP
139 Carlisle United fans made it here as part of this crowd, how amazing is that given it is the best part of a seven hour trip as you well know I am sure?
GA
It is absolutely scary isn't it where they come and where they go to follow us, and the amount of money it costs them to get there. It is a massive thank you from all our players and staff and at least they have gone home with a reasonable smile on their face with the late goal.
JP
I am sure ahead of the match at the weekend you will be hoping you can get just a few more of them through the turnstiles at Brunton Park.
GA
Well all we can do is just do our best, that it is an exciting performance. We haven't come here to defend have we, we have come here to win a football match, I think that is the only third side to come to Exeter all season and get wins. They beat Leeds United here last week so we are really pleased with the fact that we have come to a very difficult place and we have got a win.
JP
Clearly the better side in the first-half, in the second-half you have spoken about getting a bit nervy after they got their first goal back into it. Do you think maybe in that good position that you were in there were a bit of nerves all through that second-half?
GA
We were a bit nervous in the second-half and that is understandable because the pressure is on the players to keep winning and keep performing. We are critical of ourselves and first-half we thought we were absolutely comfortable.
The first 15-20 minutes of the second-half we thought we were comfortable but we just got rocked back a little bit and got a bit nervy and nearly gave a really good position away. But they have shown tremendous character which we know they have got and we go away from here with a thoroughly deserved win.
JP
I won't push you on any particular areas of the team but are you expecting before that transfer deadline coming up at the end of January any movement in or out now as things stand?
GA
I am just doing my best to improve the team and if there is something to report then we will report it. But we just look on tonight as a really good victory.
JP
I understand that on the inbound, but on the outbound Gary Madine is a player who has been linked with a move away. He certainly made an impact coming on there and had a bit of a runout as well, is he back into your thinking now?
GA
Well if he plays and continues to perform like that, listen, every player at Carlisle United is in my thinking.
JP
No doubt about it, and just then on the injury situation ahead of the weekend's game, do you know yet?
GA
Well if you would give me a chance, I have just raced up here to give an interview with you and I haven't even seen anybody in the dressing-room. So I will have a look on the 19 hour journey back camel ride to Carlisle.
JP
You raced up here almost as quick as Graham Kavanagh did chasing after the goalkeeper (Paul Jones) on the left-hand side. Did that surprise you even from your talisman there?
GA
Well he is alright, he is fitter than me isn't he, I just raced up here so we can get on that bus and get the players home as quick as possible, and start thinking about Saturday.
