New United loan signing James Chester (JC) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) before Carlisle's League One season opener at home to Brentford tomorrow, Chester looking forward to playing some competitive games :
JC
I am really excited, it is the first game of the season, so everyone has built up to this moment in pre-season, so hopefully we can get off to a good start.
JP
You had a good start obviously against Hibs but proper competitive action now, I know you have had a bit of that at this level but it must be nice starting a season with a club and having quite a few games lined out in front of you?
JC
Yeah, it is exactly what I wanted when I came back in pre-season, to go out on loan early for a good period of time and get games under my belt. I have not been in this position before where I have been at a club from the start of the season so it is something I am looking forward to and hopefully I can do well and help Carlisle get off to a good start to the season.
JP
You seem pretty settled within your team-mates, how are you enjoying it here?
JC
Yeah, really enjoying it, when I first came down I thought it is far away but the lads have welcomed me well, the coaching staff and I am feeling very welcome already. I am living with a few of the lads so I am enjoying myself.
Meanwhile fellow Blues new boy James Berrett commented :
I am very excited now, pre-season has gone well, all the lads looking forward to it and so am I. Hopefully now we can get a good start on Saturday, which I am sure we will and then kick on from there.
JP
What do you know about Brentford going into a game like this? Obviously you have a bit of experience at this level but what do you know about them in particular?
JB
They are a big and strong side from what I know last year when we saw them. So, we need to combat that and then hopefully we can play once we combat that.
JP
Gary Alexander has just signed for them as well, they were struggling for strikers but that is another potent one they have got there?
JB
Yeah, he is a good player is Alexander, I have seen him before so he is a threat we need to be wary of and I am sure we will cope with it.
JP
What has been the theme this pre-season now? What has everyone been talking about in training as you build up to this?
JB
Just the first game, all the lads are really excited to get on with it. Pre-season is a bit of a slog once you are running all the time, but now it is over, all the lads are excited to get on with it.
