United managing director John Nixon spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Tuesday morning as he talked about the arrangements for the upcoming two-legged play-off semi-final against Leeds, Nixon also discussing what would be happening at Brunton Park during the summer :
" We've agreed with Leeds, and after discussions with the police, that they will give us 2,000, which they obviously gave us last time. The recommendation is that we only take 1,700 but we've said that we want the full allocation this time which is 2,000, which is the minimum that they have got to give us because of the size of their ground. In return, after discussion with our police force, and we have a meeting with them today, we are limiting the Leeds fans to the Waterworks End, so that will be 1,640 tickets.
" It creates a better atmosphere and also it's much easier to police. From a policing point of view being a Thursday night, and obviously because the game is on SKY we are not expecting quite the demand that we had the last time. Mainly from a safety point of view it is a lot easier to police and a lot easier to control, but does create a good atmosphere.
" It's good to be in the play-offs, and obviously we are now thinking, we were working at it on Sunday and our tickets were printed on Sunday and sent to Leeds, and we've received the Leeds tickets this morning. So we're ready, we're sorting them out and they are going on sale at 12 o'clock today to season ticket holder members. We're going to remain open until six o'clock tonight to get as many people through today as we possibly can.
" When I arrived at eight o'clock this morning there were some people there and I had to remind them that they weren't going on sale until 12 o'clock. They said that it was OK and they waited four or five hours last time and were prepared to do it again, which is fantastic for the club. It really shows the level of support that we have got but I'm hoping that we get through quite a few today, and I'm hoping that we get the majority of the Leeds tickets sold today.
" We're allowing the season ticket holders to buy their home ticket and the away ticket. Because obviously some of them will be coming from parts of Cumbria, like Workington and the west, and they've got their own season tickets. They want to have their own seats because on this game of course season tickets don't apply, so they can buy their own seat and buy the away ticket as well.
" As we said on Sunday night at our awards evening, this is the fourth year of complete progression from Conference to Two to One, in position eight last year, position four this year, and in the play-offs. So it is real progression, this year has been a more difficult year because we have been in that top position all the way through. So financially it has been harder for us to maintain that, and that is something that we'll sweep up at the end of the season. It's a little bonus of being in the play-offs though and we'll get some return of having these additional games.
" We haven't got any substantial plans for the stadium as such, we have got some seating to replace for safety reasons, and we've got some bits and pieces of work to do around the ground. Whether we are in the Championship or League One, we won't be doing a substantial amount to the ground. We are though spending a lot of money, towards £30,000, on the pitch because we have some work to do to take the top surface off and re-seed it again. "
