Chesterfield boss John Sheridan spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield after his side's 4-1 League One win at home to Carlisle, Sheridan saying that the Spireites played really well from one to eleven :
"I felt it was a very difficult game, they are a very good team and if we didn't perform or weren't at the races then we would have come unstuck. But, I think our game today was very good from one to eleven, I thought that as a team we played really well, lots of energy and obviously scoring four goals is very pleasing, so again it was about winning the game and getting three points.
"But, I thought we were excellent and I thought both teams played some really, really good football between both sides. We got an early goal and obviously it is always good to score first because it gives you a platform to carry on and try to win the game. But, I think their goal was never a goal in my eyes anyway from where I was, I think there was a clear foul but it is one of those things, we don't need to go on about it too much because we have ended up winning the game.
"But, it was a clear foul for me and it gives them an opportunity, but they are a good team, they are going to create chances and they have got a very good away record, and on set-plays and corners they have got (James) Berrett who has got very good delivery so they are always going to cause you a problem, but I thought we defended when we had to defend.
"I am annoyed about their goal and Greg Fleming will be as well because he will feel that he got fouled, but there is nothing you can do, it is a waste of time going on now. But, I thought we played really well, some of our football was quality and I thought the front four were very effective and our work-ethic was very good and when you work hard and you have got one or two decent footballers and you try to pass it around then you have got a good chance of getting something out of the game."
"We scored goals at a good time, when you get to 1-0 you like to hold on longer but we didn't, and then to get the goal early to make it 2-1 was pleasing and it always gives you something. But, I thought we deserved to win the game, Carlisle are a good side but I thought we competed, they have been in this division, I think they have got an excellent manager and some good players and they have done really well over the years in this division so I thought we performed very well.
"Leon Clarke was in the right place at the right time and if you look at his goals he is just inbetween the posts isn't he, so that is what good strikers do. Hopefully our young strikers will learn from him and he has more or less stood still for them, it is a great header the second one but the first one is a great ball from Westy (Craig Westcarr) and he is just inbetween the posts, so you have got a good chance of scoring when you are in those areas.
"I think the front four worked their socks off, Westy, Alex (Alexandre Mendy) was tremendous again, Clarkey and Danny (Whitaker). Danny could have scored three goals in the first half so they are players who I think will score goals. But, I think they work very hard from the front when we are defending, they work their socks off and that is a big plus for us. But, they cause problems and luckily we got our rewards.
"Charlton next week will be a good game for us while we are in this vein of form, they are a so called, everyone says, best team, I don't see a best team in this division and I don't see a worst team in this division, I think it is very evenly matched and it is up to us to go and try to compete, so I think it will be a good game and a good test for us. I think it is an evenly matched league so I am very pleased with the way we have played in the last four games and we have got to try to keep that consistency up."
