" People were telling me in the last couple of days leading up to it that Gillingham were fighting for their lives and I said to them not to underestimate what we are fighting for. We're fighting for a different cause in that sense and you've seen two teams do that. Because of that I've got to be pleased that we have come away with a point because three were hard to get for both teams. Credit to the boys on both sides for the effort and determination. It was blustery conditions, not a lot of super football but you can't knock the determination and effort from both teams today.
" You're under pressure, we want to play and we want to play better but you have to earn the right to do that. To be fair Gillingham didn't allow us to do that, it was very up and at 'em from them. There were a lot of high balls coming into our back part, it was a good job that (Danny) Livesey and (Peter) Murphy defended very strongly and basically really.
" That was what we had to do, we had to fight that and it was possibly only in the last 20-25 minutes that we were able to get a bit of ball down and crosses and win corners and things like that. So we've had to dig in in that first period so that we had that base to go on in the second half.
" He (Danny Graham) has got a whack on the hip and it's far too early for me to say what he has got but obviously he was immobile with it and we had to get him off. I've got a positive bench I think, we've got (Luke) Joyce in there who scores goals and then the front boys, obviously Arni (Paul Arnison) looks after things at the back for us. "
" I want to go try to win it though, we've used the whole squad considerably in the last few games and I think that will continue to be the case. These boys are there to help us try to win matches and we felt that we were pressing on in that last 20 minutes or so, and if there was going to be a winner then hopefully we thought that it would be us.
" I've got to talk about Carlisle because I am the manager of them but the game in general is about both teams. They are there to stop us, they are there to make life difficult for us and it's exactly what they have done today. In the last five minutes their manager (Mark Stimson) is telling them to slow down and calm down, he is taking the point. So it's that type of afternoon, we've all been a bit up and at 'em and we've tried to do our very best, both teams in blustery conditions, and OK we'll take the point today and take that back to Cumbria with us.
" I'm trying to chase Swansea, that's what I'm saying to the team. That's where we are looking, I'm looking ahead of myself rather than behind me and we knew that result last night because it happened and we've dug in today and put on a show that let's people know that we are determined to stay in the race. It really is down to three clubs now for those two places, but we're still trying to get hold of Swansea if we can.
" They (the away fans) have had to brave the elements, they are right in the face of the wind in there in the outside, no cover when the rain came down a little bit. They are terrific you know, we had 900 I think last week at Orient, we were probably close on that number again today. I think that they have got a team to be proud of as well, so we are very pleased each other.
" It's English Football League isn't it, over ten months you are going to get everything and if you can cope with everything then you can enjoy a successful season, and at the moment we are coping with everything that is coming at us. I'm getting used to the weather now, I've been in Cumbria for six months now so it's not so bad is it. Tuesday is the next one and that's what the preparation is about now. "
