Recent United signing Josh Gowling spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Friday morning as he talked about how he is settling in at Brunton Park, Gowling also chatting about his hopes for his career with Carlisle :

" I'm a bit tired to be honest, we've done a lot of running. I've settled in nicely, I just found myself a flat yesterday and the lads have made me feel really welcome so I'm just really glad to be here at last. I've got all kinds of aches, I came back and I thought I was fit but now I feel not, we've done a lot of running. It's what pre-season is for though, to get yourself fit and to get match fit so I'm just looking forward to the start of the games.

" The gaffer (John Ward) has come in and said that he wants players who are winners and die-hards. That's really what we have been focusing on during pre-season, just any running you are doing, if you are struggling then get through it. Just make sure that you give it your all and that's what the lads are going to do.

" I've come here from a team like Bournemouth, and obviously they are struggling at the moment. I was the number one centre-half there and I've come here and they have got two great centre-halves in (Peter) Murphy and (Danny) Livesey. So it's going to be difficult for me to get into the team but all I can do is give it my all and hopefully that will be good enough.

" A lot of the lads are the same but obviously you are coming into a new team. It's a tight-knit group of lads, for me I like to get on well with everyone. The lads here have been really welcoming but obviously you are a bit anxious when you come in and you are a bit nervy. Even when you are playing you are a bit nervy because you want the lads to accept you. In the coming weeks hopefully that will go and then I'll be one of the lads.

" It's a bit ironic, I've come here at the end of the season and I've gone down with Bournemouth and now I'm here. So I'm sure that some of the Bournemouth fans are not going to be happy with me. I've come up here a number of times though and it's just a great place to come. They have got a great squad and when I had the chance to come I jumped at it.

" John Ward is a great guy, I have been here a few days now and I have learned so much more from him than I have done in the past. So I'm just looking forward to keeping learning. Hopefully I'll be in the starting eleven to be honest, but I'm hardworking, I'm honest and I give it my all so that is what the fans should expect."
