" My summer has been OK, got away for a bit, went to Cyprus with my girlfriend, I've just been back in the gym now. Post-season has gone and pre-season is just round the corner now, I'm looking forward to it, I want to get back as quickly as possible. We've got a lot of hard work to get through. Under Simmo (Paul Simpson) we (goalkeepers) did quite a bit of the running to be honest which I didn't enjoy as you can imagine.
" Under the new gaffer now (Neil McDonald) we go on a pro week which specialises in goalkeeping, it's Fred Barlow who does Bolton's goalkeepers at the moment. Malcolm Webster, who is at Southampton, and him do a course, a lot of goalkeepers from every level go to it. That starts on the 2nd of July so we sort of miss the first week at Carlisle, the rest of the lads obviously do all the running and then we join in when we come back.
" 100 appearances will be a massive milestone for me, this will be my fourth season now coming up, to make 100 appearances will be quite an achievement. The basis of any good side is a strong defence as you could see last year. Zigor (Aranalde) played most of the games, so did Danny Livesey, so did Murph (Peter Murphy) and so did I. We all got awards at the end of the year so I think that shows the basis of what it was last year.
" I don't think you can read too much into pre-season friendlies to be honest, it's good to be playing teams ranging from Barrow to Newcastle United. They are just fantastic to play in, when you play teams like Newcastle and Middlesbrough, and even Blackpool. We play Blackpool just before the season starts, they are a good side Blackpool, they obviously proved it in the end. We managed to beat them once and they beat us once so it will be nice to go up against them again. "
" We take every game as it comes to be honest, the game that I did look for was Huddersfield for Matty Glennon really, it's the third game in at their place. I looked at that one, we've got all the big ones away towards the end of the season really, like Leeds and Nottingham Forest, they are towards the end of the season. Luton away on a Tuesday night is a bit of an inconvenience for the fans really.
" He (Chris Howarth) is a good goalkeeper, he's a nice lad as well which is a good thing, everyone needs to get on at the club, and we do that. I remember playing against Danny (Carlton) for Morecambe a good couple of years ago now in the FA Trophy and he was a bit of handful. I don't know what he is like now, so hopefully he has improved and he obviously has because he has signed for us. I saw his goal at Wembley which was an unbelievable goal, hopefully he can bang in a few in for us.
" We know all about Danny (Graham) and we know what he is capable of. I think he proved himself to be more than good enough to come into this squad. Carlisle gave me the start, obviously people want to play at a higher level, it's always going to be everyone's intention to go higher and better and if I can do that with Carlisle then it will be fantastic.
" We do our homework on where players put penalties, I have done this year anyway, we didn't have a goalkeeper coach the year before. I had two penalties this year, Holty (Grant Holt) took one and Luke Beckett at Huddersfield. I managed to save Holty's and just didn't get my hands onto Beckett's, it's a 50% ratio for me last season which I was delighted with, especially after the Tranmere game anyway. "
