" It was a great finish to be fair from him (Nolberto Solano). He's a good player though isn't he, that little bit of class, and in the last minute he just put it in the stanchion, there was nothing really I could do about it. It was a good game, for the neutral I suppose it was a good game, it was end-to-end, and I thought we kept the ball quite well to be honest. We had them running a bit which is always a good sign.
" You just take it as it comes really, it's just a fitness test I think, I think that's what the Newcastle lads will say about it now, along with Sam Allardyce. It could either go one or two ways, it could either be 3-0 or 4-0 or we could have stolen it in the end, if (Danny) Livesey had stayed onside then we would have scored.
" We've come a long way to be honest, there are still a few lads that played in the Conference season. We've come a long way and long may it continue, if we can keep going then it will be another great season. I like to think that we've all got a bit of an understanding together now in the back five, it showed in the clean sheets that we kept last year. We've just got to keep it going.
" I think if you ask a few of the lads they are still working hard and doing a lot of the running. We've just gone out for a nice meal tonight and a bit of team bonding really. I can't wait for the Walsall game to be honest, Walsall is probably the one that everyone looks to. It's probably just trying to get through the pre-season friendlies really and just making sure that you stay fit and get the games in.
" He (Simon Smith - goalkeeping coach) is a man of good calibre, he's worked with the best and hopefully he can bring me on. I look for a good relationship to be honest, if we can get on together than that is a major thing, anything else is a bonus and to be fair he is a good coach. I can't really speak for anyone else but obviously you have got dreams and aspirations of your own. You obviously want to play at the highest level and the quicker you can do that the better. "
