" I'm very sad to be leaving the club, I've had three and a half good years now and I've enjoyed it. I think until the manager spoke to me that I sort of suspected that it was going to happen because he'd left it so long to speak to not only myself but a couple of others at the club. That happens in football, you can't sulk about it and you've just got to get on with it.
" I wasn't expecting anything on the coaching side, obviously myself and Neil (McDonald) had spoken previously but he'd never promised anything and he'd never said that there was going to be something available. He just said that he was going to wait until the end of the season which he did and that is the manager's decision.
" It's a mixture of both playing and coaching for me now I think. I enjoy playing quite a lot and I think I've got to carry that on at the moment until nobody wants me to play for them or the legs won't do it any more. At some level I'll just play as long as I can, there are one or two irons in the fire, I've spoken to a few clubs so I'll be keeping in touch with them over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully something will come of it.
" I'd definitely put my time here at the top of my career. I did say previously in another interview that I had a couple of good years at Huddersfield which were good but I think that the whole thing at Carlisle has been absolutely fantastic. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, we've been good really because when I first came there was a good set of lads, albeit Paul Simpson changed one or two of those and then we got a new squad after six months or so of me being there. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and the lads have been brilliant.
" I think I'll probably end up staying in Carlisle depending on where I end up because we like it up here, so we'll probably end up staying in Carlisle. My highlight would be winning the League Two championship and getting promoted as champions. Obviously the other is getting promoted by the play-offs which was more of a party than winning the championship. I think winning the championship and coming top of the league was just fantastic and it was a great achievement for the squad of players that we had.
" Although we were out there playing the football matches I think that the fans have had a massive part to play in what the club has achieved. When we were down in the Conference and playing away games at Crawley and Canvey Island and places like that the fans were there. I think they have had a big part to play in the rise of the club. It's one of the reasons I've enjoyed it so much and obviously I love the area so much because the people are just fantastic. "
