CL – Yeah, I think the club needs a lift, doesn’t it. We’ve just got into this, you know, little section of, well for the last couple of years when there’s been a lot of disillusionment. You know, on the financial side I think they have done a good job, they’ve kept it on, well-run club, in the end though Andrew Jenkins has probably had to dig deep too many times to bail them out
BBCRC – is that the case though. How many times has he had to bail them out essentially, the last two years they’ve forecast a, what is it, cash neutral, basically not making a loss and they failed both times. There have been reasons but they’ve been a part of those reasons.
CL – Well, yeah, as you say. I’m along with you I think ,you know, I’m with the supporters. The club needs a lift, needs some fresh blood, needs new ideas and it needs something all the supporters can get behind, and I think them changes are coming and, you know, just got to be patient . There is something in there, you know, we’ve all heard the rumours, we’ve all read about it and we’ve all heard about it. And there is something there and I think they’re in the final stages, it’s just gonna come down to whether they accept it, and then when that does happen we need everyone to, you know, pull together, supporters on board, the new Board on board so to speak and everyone working in the same direction.
BBCRC – You’re clearly very well in the know on this, erm, you know, there are lots of fears, I think, with some fans that, you know, members of the current people that run the club would be a stumbling block. Er, you know, is your understanding that that may not be quite the case now?
CL – Erm, I will say that there’s something in place and it’s, basically it’s make or break now. It’s up to them whether to accept it or no. It’s an offer that’s been talked about. I know that it’s quite an advanced stages….as I say it’s up to them now what happens in the next week or two but, what I will say, the new people who, you know, are interested, it’s all about the supporters, everything that’s geared, is about the supporters and them being a real part. As we’ve just seen today outside, Wimbledon, how much of this club the supporters, you know, lining the streets, drinking in the club, you know every penny made in this ground is going towards this football team. So that’s brilliant and I think that’s what the new people, certainly I believe, are interested in. It’s all about the supporters and putting them first.
