Queens boss Gordon Chisholm
Doonhamers manager Grodon Chisholm spoke to the official Queen of the South website about the dour 0-0 pre-season friendly against Carlisle at Palmerston Park this afternoon, Chisholm commenting :

"It was our final game before the league season starts and I was very pleased at how the lads played. We kept a clean sheet. Both Paul Burns and Scott Robertson showed a lot of maturity whilst the experienced David Bingham and young Brian Gilmour oozed class. I spoke to our trialist centre half Liam Atkin after the game. Again I was impressed but he still needs to up his fitness level a bit which is only natural having been out of the game for six months. I'll have another chat with Liam tomorrow and we'll see what transpires. I'm still after another striker - a bit different in style from big Sean (O'Connor) and Dobbs (Stephen Dobbie) but they are hard to come by."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay said about his clean sheet :

"That's two penalties I've saved in the two games I've played and I'm happy with that. Jamie MacDonald and I are both after that 'keepers jersey and it's all good healthy competition. I left a job to become full time with Queens but I'm enjoying every minute of it."

While midfielder John O'Neill mentioned his penalty miss, O'Neill commenting :

"It's a long time since I missed but you can't score them all. If I am going to miss it's better to get it over with in a friendly."
