Former Carlisle and Leeds striker Michael Bridges spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey tonight as he talked about the 2-0 win at Brunton Park for the Whites that saw them qualify for the League One play-off final 3-2 on aggregate, Bridges saying that he is devastated for the Carlisle players :

" It's a cruel way in any game to get a late goal like that. It's happened twice, it's happened down at Elland Road and it's happened here again tonight. Leeds have done that on numerous occasions though this season, if you have a look at their record they have scored a lot of late goals. Whether that is due to fitness or what we don't know, but it's got to be shattering for the lads to concede two late goals like that.

" I noticed that both benches were looking for the water and they were getting everything prepared for extra-time, as we were upstairs in the box. It's happened on numerous occasions, it's fitness, it's other things, maybe it is luck, but on this occasion they have gone through, they are going to Wembley and I'm devastated for the lads.

" I had fantastic times at Leeds United and obviously Carlisle, but the only difference is that I know a lot of the boys here now. It's more of a family-orientated club this place, and I actually had a more enjoyable time here. Alright, we had a lot more success at Leeds United for the big occasions, the Premiership and the Champions League but this club made me feel so welcome. I've got a place in my heart for it so I was devastated tonight.

" When you get promoted into this division everybody writes you off straight away. It's happened with Bristol City in the Championship and they have gone and done it, they are going to Wembley. It's just a shame that this club couldn't have, and I've lost money in the box tonight, 50p for swearing and 50p for Carlisle.

" No plans for this summer, obviously going to go to Wembley next week with Hull. Then I've got a flight booked for the Monday, going to get away for a few weeks to play some golf and spend some time with the family. Then get back into it ready for next pre-season, I've got one more year left at Hull, whether I see it out we'll debate in the summer because I want to play football, I haven't been playing as much as I would have liked. "
