Mike Edwards On The County Match

United centre-half Mike Edwards (ME) spoke to BBC Radio Nottingham's Colin Slater (CS) after Carlisle's 4-0 League One defeat at home to Notts County, former Magpie Edwards saying the result was a massive disappointment for the Blues:

CS

You and I have had many post-match interviews, I don't think from your point of view I have interviewed you on many days quite as sad and unhappy as this one when you have been on a side that has lost 4-0?

ME

Yeah, it is a massive disappointment for the lads out there really, it is great to see your friendly face but just massively disappointed with the result there. We have got to look at a big couple of days now, we have got a game on Tuesday so we can look to put it right, but it is disappointing playing against a team that I have fond memories of to have a result like that.

CS

How are you? How are you settling down?

ME

Yeah, good to be fair, I am getting used to it, the lads are great here and so are the staff, so I can see it is a similar situation what we are trying to do here with the club like it was at Notts. So, it is a great chance to be a part of this and things are going great, just obviously not the result today.

CS

How are you coping with all the travelling? It took us five hours to get here yesterday afternoon?

ME

If you go at 50 then you are definitely going to be a bit slow.

CS

If only we could have.

ME

I stay up here most of the time during the week, so I just get back now and again when I can really to see the family and stuff. It is great that I am living with a couple of lads up here, who are looking after me so it is all fine. The football is good, we do like to try to play and training is normally sharp, so that side of things is good. I think now it is two or three months into it it has settled down a little bit.

CS

Did your manager here at Carlisle look to you to give the team some tips on how Notts might play and where their strengths might lie?

ME

To be fair there have been quite a few changes, there is only Bish (Neal Bishop), Judgey (Alan Judge) and Jeff (Hughes) really starting from last season. I know how they are used to playing and how the gaffer there (Keith Curle) wants them to play and the system. I have not been able to see any games this season obviously, he was asking a few questions about individuals and I gave a little bit of advice the best I could, but it is a new network of players for Notts this season, so it is going to be a little bit different.

CS

And it has been a day of course, unfortunately for two, where Notts having lost two at home last week have suddenly hit form again and how?

ME

Yeah, definitely, it is a big sort of blow for us because we had picked up a few results recently as well, so we were hitting a little bit of form as well. It is a bit of a blow but we are lucky we have got a game on Tuesday again with a rearranged game, so we can reassemble and go again and try to put it right.

CS

You are a bit like Notts aren't you, you are not doing as well at home as you are away from home, you had won away last Saturday, you are quite a force away from home like Notts?

ME

Yeah, we have won quite a few away from home, we have been good. It is frustrating that it is not clicking at home, I think it like when we have talked before when it was similar at Notts, it is a case of getting consistency in these leagues and that helps with a promotion push. We have taken a massive dent here, but we have got to pick ourselves up and look to go on a run again.
