MG
For me one of the better things I have always wanted to do was something like this on my own as well, but I never got around to doing it. But, when they make it something that we all do together it is a good thing and it is something that I actually look forward to.
JP
Is it not something you have done so far in your career then? Or have you done it with teams rather than on your own?
MG
No, I have done it last year as well but I think we should definitely do more of this, because it is giving back to these guys who are worse off than us. They really need the support and it feels good for us to do it and I am sure they enjoy it as well.
JP
There is one young lad on the end here who was actually naming you as you all came in, is he the future stadium announcer at Brunton Park or maybe a future commentator? But, to see how much you all mean to him, it must feel great?
MG
Yeah, it is good to meet the fans and meet the kids, they have all got great personalities, and it is really great to hear some of them that are going home and getting better and stuff like that. So, it is a pleasure for both parties.
JP
Speaking of pleasures, how have you found your time at Carlisle United so far?
MG
I have enjoyed it, definitely enjoyed it, there is no question about it, playing games and the team has been doing well, so I have just really enjoyed my time.
JP
Has that been important for you? Was that why you wanted to come to Carlisle United to get that actual game-time and show people what you could do?
MG
Yeah, at first I just wanted to play games and there was not a concern about anything else. I just knew that I needed to play games, but I have found a great group of guys, a great manager (Greg Abbott) and great staff, so I couldn't be more pleased with the entire situation that I have got myself into.
JP
And you are enjoying it, and I suppose the big question with fans coming towards Christmas is will they still be able to watch you after Christmas?
MG
Yeah, after Christmas there is Oldham, there are three more games. But, I am not sure to be quite honest, I am just going to play the games that I have to play in and help Carlisle out as much as I can, help myself out and then football usually takes care of itself, we will see where it goes from there.
JP
Any indication from Leeds as to whether they would like you to stay out somewhere, or whether they have been impressed with what they have seen here though?
MG
I think Leeds are sixth now and they are on fire and they are doing really well, winning away and winning home games, coming back from 2-0 down, so they are on fire. So, I haven't heard anything from them but my gut feeling would be obviously that they would probably want me to stay out somewhere and get games in.
But, you never know, you never know, and as soon as I hear from them and hear from my agent and talk to obviously Carlisle and see what is going on then we will see where to move from there. But, there are four or five more really important games for me and Carlisle that are more important than that.
JP
But you are enjoying it here? You would be happy to come back if that was what was there?
MG
Yeah, of course I would be happy to come back but football changes quickly. So, if Leeds want me back then I would like to go back to Leeds, if that is not the case then I would like to stay in Carlisle. There is no question I have enjoyed myself here but in football things are really quick and can change quickly. So, we will see when January 3rd comes around what the situation is and we will take it from there.
JP
Who have you forged good relationships with here during your time at Carlisle? Who have you become pally with basically?
MG
Everyone really, obviously I have known Lubomir (Michalik) for quite a well now so he has helped me to settle in because he came here and he was here a month or two before me. But, all the guys to be quite honest, they are all great, they are all cool and I have got no problems with anyone, it is a great atmosphere and a great locker room, so everyone really.
JP
And the big question, because I don't think anyone has heard from him, does Lubo Michalik speak?
MG
Yeah, Lubo speaks, and he speaks very well for someone, obviously he has been here for three or four years but even when I met him last year he speaks very good English. He is a very good character as well so you should probably get him on if you can.
JP
I am going to try, is he as terrifying to talk to then as he looks, I am guessing probably not, it is all bluff is it?
MG
With Lubo I think the appearance is just more scary than anything else, he is probably one of the nicest guys I have ever met so definitely not as scary as he seems.
