Alex NichollsWalsall goalscorer Alex Nicholls spoke to BBC Radio West Midlands after his side's 1-1 League One draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Nicholls happy to have passed his own personal landmark in the match :

"I am chuffed to have played 200 games for Walsall and even more chuffed to get the goal to get us a point in the end. It was a difficult game, they have done well recently here, it is a tough place to come but I am chuffed and it is another point. It was a test of nerves after what happened in the FA Cup against Dagenham (he missed in a penalty shootout), I wanted to put that right as well so it was pleasing that it went in, really happy.

"We knew it was going to be tough, but I think we have been solid over the last six or seven weeks as a team. They did get through us a couple of times and we rode our luck at times, but we came back and got the goal. We didn't create a great deal, it was difficult conditions in the first-half with the way we wanted to play, it was hard playing into the wind. But, second-half I think if you take the first ten minutes I thought we looked a good team and looked to hit them on the break.

"I think the biggest thing in the team is being hard to beat and that is exactly what we are, and I think given time I think the goals will come without doubt. I think it is good that the gaffer (Dean Smith) is sticking with the same team so we can get that bit of consistency that has been lacking. But, I think if we keep working hard and be hard to beat, we just need to work that bit extra in that final third and start scoring some more goals. I don't need us fighting relegation again and the gaffer doesn't either, he deserves better than that, I think if we score a few more goals then there won't be a problem at all, that is the be-all and end-all I think."

Meanwhile Saddlers frontman Jamie Paterson commented to BBC Radio West Midlands on the match :

"It was a good game, I thought we started a bit sluggish but I thought as the game went on we were favourites. We started to get the ball down and play and as the game got stretched I thought we looked an attacking threat and I thought we could have gone on to win the game. We are the draw specialists at the minute but it is better than a loss, so we are trying to turn those draws into wins and I am sure and I think we are all confident that we will.

"I think we are more of a unit, you can see, the whole squad, we brought three players off the bench (George Bowerman, Kevan Hurst and Ryan Jarivs) and they have all made a contribution basically. I think last season when we were down at the relegation zone we never gave up, and I think we have got similar players to last season and now we are in a better position so hopefully we can start to push up the table. I know I keep saying it but I believe and we all believe that we can.

"Last season we looked down and out and we came back, and this season we are still above the relegation zone and I think we are coming to good sides and we are having the better play so that should stand us in good stead. Personally I just want to start every game and every time I play I feel like I am getting more and more confidence, so hopefully I can just keep getting as many games under my belt and try to contribute."
