Paul Hayes
Iron goalscorer Paul Hayes commented to the Scunthorpe Telegraph about his side's 1-1 draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park on Saturday, Hayes looking forward to an easy run-in on paper for Scunthorpe :

" On another day we would have won it comfortably. It would be more worrying if we weren't creating chances. Hoops (Gary Hooper) has got 25 goals and any other game he would have scored three or four and you would have put your mortgage on him.

" He's obviously going to have one game where he doesn't score all his chances but he's a very, very good player and has scored a lot of important goals for us this season. I was pleased with my all round performance. We like to play quick football and the manager has always said throughout the season, if we can take quick free-kicks, then we should.

" We'll see if it's enough at the end of the season. At this moment in time every point is crucial. You could be out of the play-offs all through the season and it's all doom and gloom, then you sneak in. If that's what it takes, that's what it takes.

" We've probably got the easiest run in out of everyone. The majority of our games are at home and we've only got two of the top seven to play. That works in our favour and it's good to have our game in hand at home to Hereford tomorrow, who are second bottom in the league.

" If we play like we have been doing in the past few games, there's no doubt we can come away winners. We know we're good enough to be in the play-offs this season. Unfortunately our consistency recently hasn't been as good as what it should be, but we've played well in the last three games. "

While Iron top scorer Gary Hooper commented to the Telegraph :

" I was pleased to see Paul Hayes get back on the scoresheet again. It was a great finish. When he scores, I don't. When I score, he doesn't. That's the way it seems to be. I don't feel under any pressure to score. I'm there and that's my job. Some days the chances will go in for you and some days they don't. All you can do is keep going.

" I trained on Friday and knew then I would be able to play at Carlisle. I didn't feel the injury once during the game so hopefully it's going to be all right now for the rest of the season. We wanted all three points from Carlisle. But I am sure if we play like we did up there for the rest of the season, then we'll be all right.

" We can look forward to tomorrow night now and hopefully get three points against Hereford. I scored down there earlier in the season and it would be nice to get on the score-sheet again tomorrow. Then hopefully we can go on another run. "
