" This was a game we wanted to win. We want to play at a high tempo, but it was difficult to do that because of the swirling wind. As soon as the ball got off the floor it went all over the place.
" The Carlisle goal was a poor one for us to concede from a corner. We had enough players in that situation to deal with it at the near post but someone has lost his marker and it has cost us the game. But after that I thought we would go on and win it, we certainly had enough opportunities to do that.
" We created so many chances, and credit to both sets of players because they played well in testing conditions today. As soon as the ball went off the floor it was swirling all over the place because of the wind and that had an effect.
" Gary Hooper has had a couple of golden opportunities in the first half, but has not taken them - and that's been the story of the game really. On another day he might have had three. Paul Hayes has scored a great goal for us and only a fantastic save by their goalkeeper has prevented him from scoring again.
" We are disappointed we could not get the three points. But we have ten games left to go, seven of those are at home, so let's be positive and believe we can win those games. "
While defender David Mirfin commented to Scunthorpe's official club website :
" To be honest, we'll definitely see it as two points lost. I think with the chances we created on Saturday - only limiting them to one or two shots on goal - we must be disappointed that we haven't won. It was good to play alongside Andy Crosby, who has so mucb experience. He's a great leader and it was the second time I've played alongside him.
" I felt we looked really solid at the back. I know we were playing a team who are struggling a little bit but we've got to take heart that we've only limited them to the few chances they've had. I think we looked good at the back and we weren't far away from getting a clean sheet. "
