United centre-half Peter Murphy spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey at Monday morning's open press conference for the local media after Carlisle's 1-1 draw at home to Leicester on Saturday, Murphy also later looking ahead to this weekend's big game at Cheltenham :

" It was a better performance on Saturday, closing down-wise and the shape that we had. To concede by another free-kick, the same as Oldham, in the last few minutes is gut-wrenching but these things happen in football don't they.

" It's not really difficult to be positive because the performance was a lot better, we had a few chances as well which could have changed the game but it didn't happen. It is not that hard, everyone has come in today looking forward to getting training again and getting going ready for next week. We could be in a worse position but we are not, so it is not as bad as everybody is making it out to be.

" It is exciting, it is always the same at Carlisle, I don't think that anybody would have it any other way. It is good for the fans, it is good for the players, we get experience through this as well so it is all good and we will be alright at the end of it.

" We have got a good blend, we have got young lads as well so hopefully they will learn from the experience and maybe their little bit of naïvete will be better as well because they won't feel any pressure. People say that there is a lot of pressure on but it is not, it is another game of football. If we can go out and perform the way that we know that we can do, but we haven't been doing it on a consistent basis. So it is just up to us to turn that around and do it. "

" I say this all the time, it is not really like you can say that loads of different players have got talents, but it is more like the confidence and the mental side of the game. I think that when you are down at the bottom the luck doesn't go for you.

" Certain things, a goal goes against you, some players and teams drop their heads but you have go to be stronger than that. It is only a game of football, you have got to be a lot stronger and think that we can go again, that all we need is just one goal and then it changes everything. So I think that it is more mental than just about the players.

" Personally I don't feel the tension in the crowd, if it had been an ideal world then we would have got three or four goals and it would be alright. It doesn't happen like that though and that is why everybody loves football, it is so tight all the time because you are not going to win every game 2-0 or 3-0. So it is always tight and the fans get a bit edgy but that is why they love it, so that is why people come to watch.

" My fitness is brilliant, I think I will last. You never know what is going to happen at Cheltenham., there are other teams and other results and all that. So it is a must-win as you will make it out to be in the press but we just have go out and try to get a performance. Obviously we want to win but if we don't then it is not the end of the world either.

" I have looked at the other teams' fixtures and results over the weekend after our game, but that is not in our hands so you can't really worry about that. It is like worrying about things that you have no effect on so we will just wait and see what happens. "
