Stanley manager Paul Cook spoke to his club's official website after his side had lost 1-0 to Carlisle in the Capital One Cup, Cook, interviewed on the Brunton Park sidelines saying he thought his lads did terrifically well in the game:
"It is difficult because I thought the lads have done terrifically again today, I never like praising us when we are getting beat, obviously there are a few flaws in there, certainly finishing, goals scored. But, I think people forget Carlisle had finished eighth last year in League One and in the second-half of the game we have absolutely controlled the game.
"We have controlled the tempo of the game, we have dominated possession, we should still be playing now, it should be extra-time and penalties. Unfortunately we just still have a habit, and it is a lot of hard work on the training ground.
"That is where we need to be now, we need to again, people are aware we are going to sign another couple or three players. But, there was a lot of pleasing things, we don't like getting beat, we really don't like getting beat in cup competitions, it is a bitter pill to swallow but we have to accept it and I think the mentality at the club for us as staff must go to the players. Today we have come to a tough game and we have certainly and adequately held our own.
"We are very disappointed not to win or to get a draw out of the game but that is something we will address and we will move on. We will certainly work harder in training every day and by the time we get to a period of the season I have got a feeling we will be clicking well and we will be doing really well.
"I just think good teams will always punish you, you have got to give them respect, it is a quality surface, it is a great pitch to play on, they have got good players right through the team and on the bench. We have put a new squad together, again I can't sing my lads' praises high enough. I am not singing their praises high enough about the fact that we got beat because that is something we really don't like.
"I think the mentality will change with that one, but sometimes you can only do your best and today we have given our best and we fell short, but we will be back. Contrary to what people think it is hard, we are still trying to work out what our best formation is, what to play, we have got Padraig Amond coming in this week, we have got one or two other signings coming in that we would like to think are going to affect us as well.
"All we can do is keep working hard at it, there were things today where we lacked a bit of a physical presence upfront. There were certain aspects where we could all watch a game and be critical, what we are doing is we are a work in progress. I was delighted we had good travelling support today and I think as long as they go home happy in the fact that we have done our best then I don't think you have ever got a problem.
"It is just work every week, I say to everyone that I am not great when we win and I am not great when we lose. There is a bigger picture, success is over a period of time, at the end of the day I would like to think that we will be sitting down at the end of the season and looking at our league position and we will see what we have done well. I am very confident that we will do well, I have got very good belief in this group of players."
