Bees manager Andy Scott spoke to BBC Radio London yesterday after his side's 3-1 opening day win at Brunton Park, Scott suggesting that Brentford could have beaten Carlisle by more than two goals :

" I think we thoroughly deserved to win the game and were more or less dominant in open play. They had some chances from set-pieces but if you call that a smash and grab then I wouldn't like to see what you see as a dominant performance. We have just said in there, we could probably have scored seven or eight goals comfortably. We had the chances and they never created anything apart from set-pieces.

" I think that you look at some of the players that are playing in this league and it is a big, physical league, the same as League Two. The quality of set-pieces and balls into the box is going to be a little bet better than it was last year and you need to be big and strong and you need to get your head on things.

" We didn't do that in the first-half and we just nailed down a few things that we just got away with really in the first-half in terms of set-pieces. Certainly in the second-half though they created less from those opportunities and we didn't allow them to get so many crosses in the box from throw-ins.

" Myles (Weston) used to be a centre-forward when he was a kid at Charlton, that is when I saw him play and I know that he can play on the left. Obviously we have been watching him all through last year playing on the left but there is something that I like about him in an area in the way that we play.

" It is not to say that he can't go and play on the left because we have got Sam Wood and Ryan Dickson who have done an extremely good job and they did last year. We have got options though and that is the idea of forming a squad, but Myles was terrific today and he could have had another goal.

" Sam Saunders had a one-on-one, Sam Wood had a couple of chances in the first-half and they weren't just half-chances, they were very, very good chances. At one point you think that you can live to rue those but we defended stoutly, plenty of energy and we created some good chances ourselves and were well worthy winners. "
