Magpies manager Keith Curle spoke to BBC Radio Nottingham and his club's official website after his side's 4-0 League One win over Carlisle at Brunton Park, Curle pleased with the reaction of his players after two defeats in a row:
"I spoke to the players before the game today and I said it is alright having a reaction through the week, and it has been a positive reaction with the application in training, there has been a level of aggression and a level of disappointment. So, I said to the players, we can do all that on the training ground but it is out there on the field of play, that's where we need to make sure that we show people that those two results have hurt us a football team.
"I am not a knee-jerk type of person, I don't make decisions based on other people's thinking, I have got faith, belief and a system of play that the players have bought into. The easy thing to do would be to say we have lost two games so let's change everything. I am not about that, I am about building for the future, putting a foundation in place, putting a strategy and a philosophy in place that just because we lose two games on the spin I don't change.
"We have been working a lot through the week because we have come up against systems of play that affected us and affected the way that we play. So, we have been working a lot this week on our midfield players making the extra striker and getting into the box. So, it was very pleasing for myself and the two coaches Colin Lee and Colin West when our two goals are our fast free-flowing midfield players making entries into the box and getting on the end of crosses.
"It shows that what we work on during the week, it does bear fruit at the weekends. We take every game on its individual merits, we know that teams have been coming to us to stop that man in the hole and stop that space being created. Sometimes what you get then, you get a level of frustration from Judgey because we are not able to get the ball to him.
"So, we move him into a wider advanced area but waiting for him to come into the hole as and when if he does, if he doesn't then stay out wide and be a productive wide player, and Alan has got the ability to do that. I don't know what Carlisle's gameplan was, my mindset is firmly on making sure we have got a gameplan and the players understand it and adhere to it whenever possible."
"Alan Judge is OK, he just took a knee in the backside off one of their big centre-backs. So, it was a little bit painful and he couldn't get rid of the pain, so partly precautionary that we took him off. Francois (Zoko) came on and he was desperately disappointed that he wasn't playing. He has worked absolutely excellently in training, he has been doing extra work because he knows he has got a pre-season that he missed that he needs to catch up on. The fitter we get Francois the more of a goal threat he will be.
"Again, I mentioned to the players that it is very easy to show disappointment in the changing room after a defeat last week. Heads were bowed, people weren't making eye contact and that sort of thing is part and parcel. That is the easy way to show your disappointment, the best way to show your disappointment is by your next performance, and I think we got that today.
"Ashley Eastham came into the team late today, I have been desperate to try to get him on the field of play as well, so he has come in and he has started his career with us and hopefully that might be able to be continued as well. In my mind we haven't got any fringe players, we have got players in the squad that when called upon can play and perform. We have got young emerging talent like Romello Nangle who showed a great blistering turn of speed and made it look like their lad was going backwards, and don't be surprised if by the end of the season there are another two or three coming through.
"Lee Hughes has been struggling with a virus, he has been bed-ridden for about three or four days, some people will say it is man flu but I know what Lee is like, if he could have made the trip he would have made the trip, it has just been unfortunate that it has knocked him for six. The other thing is that with having a long distance travel up here you want to keep him away from the lads incase it spreads."
"This is a difficult place to come to, not only because of the logistics, the mental attitude and the mental approach to the game has to be right. Yesterday's training session was absolutely spot on, we slightly changed it, we drove up here early but the place where we wanted to train was waterlogged, so we had to cut down on the training session because we could only train on an astroturf pitch.
"So, basically we did a lot of work on the tactical side of the game rather than the physical side of the game. But, again, I have got good belief in the strength and conditioning people at the football club, the players can have one down day and then perform. I have got to mention the travelling supporters today as well, I thought they were excellent, I think they were rewarded for their efforts for coming here by the fantastic performance. I think the home fans as well enjoyed an entertaining game of football, whereby both teams tried to play football.
"I think basically on Tuesday in the JPT the first thing we do is we take a roll call on Monday to find out who we have got, because we have got a few people with a few knocks. So, we will have a roll call on Monday, there is no point me picking a team now on a Saturday night. Neal Bishop has been struggling with an injury but the type of person and type of character he is, he is not going to let a little bit of discomfort stop him from playing.
"The easy time to be a manager of a football club is when you win, the difficult time is when you have had back to back defeats and people start asking questions, people start doubting whether you have got the squad capable of winning football matches. Again, that is where I need to earn my money, it is easy to do it when we are winning, I earn my money when the team have got negative results, because it is important that I keep that belief, not only in myself and the staff but in the players. I don't like losing games and in those last two games there were results there, with different timings of goals we could have won both of those games."
