" Obviously it's nice to get the goals, we'd played two games and I hadn't scored, but coming into today's game I was still full of confidence. There have been a few doubters because I haven't scored in pre-season, and hopefully I have proved a few wrong today. That doesn't bother me, I see pre-season as just getting match-fit and getting ready for the start of the season. I want league goals, I want cup goals, and I am not too worried about the pre-season goals.
" It was open today, both teams wanted to attack and both teams got the ball down and played some good stuff, and it was a very entertaining game. I don't think being top means anything at this time of the season obviously. It is always nice to start well though, I think that we drew our first game last year and then won the following game. So we have won two this year, so we have already bettered last year and hopefully we can continue.
" It's always nice to break records with the two wins to start, I think that we broke one last year with the consecutive wins at home, so it's just nice to be part of that. I think that it is important to have a good cup run this season, obviously after last year we went out of all the competitions very early. So it's obviously important that we can get a good run in one of the cups this year, and hopefully do well in the league again. "
Meanwhile flying United winger Simon Hackney commented on the game :
" It was fantastic to get a goal, I will definitely go for double figures again this season. So to start early this season and get myself a goal, which was a beautiful through pass from Michael Bridges which was brilliant, I want to carry on like that. I was just reminiscing with Bridgey then in the changing rooms, and he said he could remember it being similar to the Barnet one. So great stuff, I hope that we can do that all the way through the season.
" It surprised me that it was so open because the gaffer (John Ward) told us that they were more of an attacking team with width and stuff like that. I think that we managed to defend well at times though, and then we were doing really well on the break. The movement from us was brilliant and that is why Danny (Graham) has got his two goals. He has worked very hard and Dobes (Scott Dobie) has worked as well and got himself a goal as well.
" I think that our movement has been brilliant through the pre-season, and then we have brought it on into the game today. So if we can just keep doing that, the defending will get miles better anyway, I fully believe that and we will work with, Greg (Abbott) will definitely work with that with us anyway. The Leyton Orient and QPR games are two very long distance trips, but I'm sure that we will go down there and be professional. Hopefully we'll get three points on Saturday and then hopefully do well in the cup. "
