Shrimps manager Sammy McIlroy spoke to the Lancashire Evening Post about his side's defeat on penalties at home to Carlisle in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last night, McIlory already looking forward to the league :

"I thought there were a lot of positives to take from the Carlisle tie, and we played very well. We held the advantage up to the last couple of minutes, so it was a disappointment to lose the game from there. The tie handed me the chance to give Garry Hunter, Craig Stanley, Henry McStay and Neil Wainwright a run-out, and they did well.

"It was Hunter's first start so far and he looked lively, scoring our first goal. A few players have come into contention for a start and I've got a few extra options to consider. The most important thing now, though, is to get up and running in the league with a win, and it would be nice to do it in front of our fans."
