Former United right-back Richard Keogh spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria on Wednesday after making his summer move from Carlisle to Coventry, Keogh looking forward to a new challenge at the RICOH Arena :

" At Coventry when the manager (Aidy Boothroyd) showed me round I was taken aback a bit by how big the stadium is and how big the club actually is. I follow my football and Coventry has got a great history of being in the Premier League. I have been looking around the facilities and it is certainly where the club should be.

" I think everything is in place, the chairman (Ray Ranson) down to the manager and I think I am joining the club at the right time and I am excited about the challenge of trying to get this club promoted really.

" Carlisle was fantastic for me, I had two great seasons there and I can't thank them enough really for the support they gave me. Especially the fans, the fans were fantastic with me and I would like to think I gave them a lot. Since I have been there I have given them 100% every time I played and I can honestly say that I looked back and I gave the club everything I had.

" It was a little bit hard to leave but after speaking to the manager (Boothroyd) and knowing that a club like Coventry was interested in me there was only going to be one winner unfortunately. I needed a new challenge I thought, I wanted to make that step up and this is the perfect challenge for me. I am just really excited about getting my head down and getting started really.

" He (Boothroyd) has been absolutely fantastic with me. He is very, very infectious and after I had spoken to the manager there was only one winner and a lot of it was down to the manager. I feel like at this stage in my career he is the manager that can help me move forward as a player and that is what I am excited about and that is why I signed.

" His track record is very good, he took Watford up to the Premiership and I don't think the chairman would have brought him in if he didn't feel he could take the club to the next level. We are not going to set ourselves any targets, obviously we will keep that in house, we are going to set our standards and the manager demands from us, and so he should.

" I think we will keep it in house what targets we are going to set, but I am really excited about the squad. We have got some young hungry players and a fantastic squad. You look at Blackpool and what they achieved, and I think everyone is really excited and looking forward to a good season. "
