"We created some really good chances but we can't defend the way we did for the goals. We were naïve for the throw in for the first goal. Then when it's only 1-0 you're still in with a shout. Their keeper whacked a 70 yard ball down the middle and we let it bounce and it ends up in our net. We weren't ruthless enough in both boxes. If you can't score at home you're always going to be under pressure.
"Kevin Ellison had a chance, Gareth Taylor had a chance and how the lad headed it off the line was unbelievable. John Mullin had one kicked off the line and one saved in the top corner, and Gareth had another one that hit the keeper. But you have to stick the knife in. I know one or two complained at the end about it being a disgrace, but I think that's going over the top a little bit. No one is more disappointed than me and the players.
"It would be great for me to say I thought Carlisle were magnificent, they'd steamrolled us and our keeper has made some great saves. But we were done by two naïve goals and you're not going to get where we want to get if we concede goals like that. We need to be scoring goals, we had enough chances to win the game comfortably. We didn't take them and got punished for two sloppy errors.
"We've still got a chance, but we're making it hard for ourselves. The teams above us will be made up with the result. We're going to need to be clinical in both boxes if we're to take anything out of the Blackpool game. We'll get them in on Sunday. I'll work on the strikers and John Breckin will work on the defenders. We'll split them up into two groups and get back to basics. Hopefully then they'll be nice and sharp."
