Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield about Doncaster's 1-0 loss at Brunton Park on Saturday, O'Driscoll being impressed with the debut of his on-loan winger Stuart Elliott :

" I thought that in the second-half we were excellent, it was a difficult pitch and difficult conditions. We kept plugging away, we needed a little bit of luck and didn't get it. Overall though, in some senses I thought we started well and we started sloppily both at the same time. We created one or two great opportunities but they probably did the basics better than us.

" You can see why they have got such a good home record, I don't think they do anything spectacular but they do the basics really well. I think we were looking to play football more so than Carlisle. They put their two wide men and tried to get in behind our full-backs. They have changed their shape though, when teams have done that before in the past, or they've dropped an extra midfield man again.

" I thought that we coped really well with it, I just thought that we got a bit sloppy at times. Trying to do the right things, trying to play but on a difficult pitch maybe it was better just to play safe at one or two times. In the second-half I thought we got to grips with it and against the wind probably only when we were chasing the game did they look like they might score but we couldn't quite find that finishing touch.

" I just think, we said all along that this was going to be about second balls and if they won the second balls then they would turn us on the next one and that's what happened on the goal. We didn't win the second ball, we got turned and then they got the ball in the box so you've got to give credit to them. I thought we defended really well, I thought the two full-backs defended really well.

" We've just tried to do the right things, we've stuck to our principles. On a couple of occasions I thought that we were a bit naïve in trying to pass in areas where maybe it was better just to clear it. You've got to give them credit for taking responsibility in the second-half though, I thought that we dominated the 45 minutes but we just couldn't find a goal.

" I think Neil Sullivan's were reaction saves, things whipped across the box rather than anything that was a created well worked chance. The conditions were really difficult bit it was just one of those things. They have got a good home record and you can see why, but we were disappointed not to get something out of the game as I thought that we did enough to warrant at least a point.

" He (Stuart Elliott) looked like he might score, he had a header and his first couple of opportunities on the ball I thought that he produced a great cross. He got a header in from a cross from the right as well which on another day might have gone in so he looks like he is going to be a good acquisition. Three away games was always a tough ask and this was always going to be a difficult game but I thought that we showed enough that we are capable of bouncing back and carrying on the good run until the end of the season.
