Grays midfielder Sam Sloma spoke to BBC Radio Essex about last night's FA Cup abandonment at the New Recreation Ground, Sloma understandably disappointed with the whole thing :

" I'm very gutted, we were playing so well, I scored a good goal and we were hoping to take it on and maybe get a win and progress. It wasn't to be though so we have to go again. I actually had a long chat with the linesman about it being light enough because I thought that we could play. They see it as a health and safety risk to some of the fans in that corner though and unfortunately rules and regulations take charge in those situations I think.

" You have to understand it otherwise you have got a big problem, so it is just one of those things. Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do, it is not the referee's fault that the floodlights have failed and that is it. I wish I was an electrician but I am not unfortunately, I am not very good with that stuff.

" I had three chances in the game, so I was feeling good, I was starting to get in the game so it is disappointing from a personal point of view. As other guys have said though, there could be financial implications and that could be a bigger worry.

" It does feel different to a defeat, we have been playing well so we are positive about how we started but we are disappointed that the game hasn't gone on, so it is mixed feelings really. Hopefully we can finish the job, again we started well and we played well up there so there is no reason why we can't do it again, we will have to wait and see. "
