Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson spoke to BBC Radio Essex after his side's 2-1 defeat at Brunton Park today, Tilson understandanbly critical of the poor refereering display from Andy Haines :

" It was a good performance by the lads today, I thought that we certainly deserved to get something out of the game. We go in 1-0 at half-time and to be fair up until the penalty it felt comfortable. I don't know whether it is a penalty or not but there is no danger at all in the box. Like I say though, disappointed because I felt that we definitely deserved to get something out of the game today.

" They haven't hurt us, they haven't really hurt us today, they haven't passed it around us, they have put a few balls in the box. I have just said in there though, they haven't rained our goal even in the second-half with the wind. It is disappointing because I felt that we deserved something out of the game, I have just said in there that if we play like that then we will win more than we lose.

" It was going to be a tough game but you can't tell me that they opened us up too many times. So from that point of view it is disappointing because I thought that we had a few chances ourselves. A good reaction from the players though after Tuesday night, I thought that they have dug in, worked hard and passed the ball well at times. We are just not getting the rub of the green at the moment.

" The referee was awful wasn't he if I'm honest, for both sides he was shocking, I don't think that he knew what day of the week it was today. There is no danger in the box though and people are saying that it is not a penalty. It is not as if he (Danny Livesey) is going to head it in the goal so that changed the game for me. I felt that if they don't score there then we would go on and win the game. Even then though we have had a couple of decent chances up the other end.

" Their second goal was not from digging in, that is just from being bright and being switched on. The only disappointing thing for me today was probably that goal. It's tough, I feel, not for myself, but for the players because we deserved something out of the game today. We have got to travel back home knowing that we should have got something and we haven't, but we have got to regroup and get ready for Hereford next week.

" It was a good finish from Dougie Freedman, he is bright and he is alive, it was a decent performance by Doug. We have got to take a lot of positives out of the game today, whereas last week at Walsall doing this was totally different, but I take a lot of positives out of today. We have got Hereford at home next week and we have got to be looking to get a result. The players are hugely disappointed now but their heads never went down once today, they worked hard and on another day we would have got something out of the game. "
