Rochdale boss Steve Eyre spoke to BBC Radio Manchester and Rochdale Online after his side's 0-0 League One draw at home to Carlisle, Eyre saying a point apiece was fair for both teams :
"We were very organised tonight, we had a bit of steel about us, we're delighted with the clean sheet, we think we may have just done enough to edge the game, but at the same time that is not clear or conclusive so at the same time we thought the game on Saturday was a great point, tonight we are just settling and saying it was a fair point.
"Home team, home ground, home advantage, we had a lot of impetus but at the same time they did cancel us out on quite a few occasions and we looked a little bit leggy. We have been working with a group of eleven or twelve players over the last four games, including extra-time last week it has been over 500 minutes so it has been a big ask.
"I am just not sure we got close enough to the goal tonight to score a winner and our best chances fell to Andrew Tutte tonight from 20, 25 and 30 yards. So, he is capable of that but that looked our best chance of scoring tonight, and I think it said a little bit about possibly a little bit of tiredness over a hectic first fortnight.
"We want to start well from the kick-off, we have found that in the recent games we have been doing it for the 15 minutes before half-time and for a good half-hour after, obviously we will be really, really pleased and satisfied when we do that right from the first whistle. But, hopefully we can grow from this and accept that the shutout was fair for both sides tonight.
"I can’t talk about the officials. We tell the lads before they go out onto the pitch not to get involved with the referee so I can’t come out here and get involved but I will say that I looked across at the Carlisle bench and they looked as equally frustrated. Thankfully for both teams there was nothing contentious that cost a team a win.
"I am forever trying to get players in, I can tell you that I am in a little bit of a queue, whether it be for a permanent signing or for loan players at Premier League and Championship clubs. They are happy to help but at the same time they are not always in a rush to do so because they have got to look after their own first and their own players. So, we are in there fighting and in there chatting and we will try to bring the best players to Spotland.
"Without a doubt the squad is a bit shallow, nobody is going to say any different but we could rush and we could just cherry pick. There are lots of players that want to play for Rochdale but we have got to look at the balance of the squad and we have got to look where we can strengthen, and at the same time we have got to get the right characters and we have got to get the right players. So, I am patient in my approach but it doesn't mean that we are not working hard behind the scenes."
