Southend boss Steve Tilson spoke to BBC Radio Essex after his side's 2-2 League One draw at home to Carlisle, Tilson giving credit to his players after they came from two goals down to take a point from the game :

" To come back from two goals down and to get ourselves back into the game was a big credit to the players. Because to go two down, and we haven't scored too many goals of late, it was a big effort to get two goals today. Then obviously the disappointment of going down to ten men, Adam (Barrett) getting sent off.

" I think we had to play 25 minutes, probably a little bit more, with ten men and probably had as many chances as they did after that time. So again, that it is a credit to the players, they haven't given up the task. So for me in the end it is another game undefeated, another point, is it enough? I don't know, we will see, we will only find that out at the end of the season.

" To go two down, and we could have folded to be honest and lost by four or five. But a good finish by Franck Moussa for the first one, desire for the second one by Barrett to get himself in the box, I think he smashed Damian Scannell to score. So credit to Adam but it was a poor decision Adam getting sent off.

" He is having a shot and the lad (Peter Murphy) has just toed it away, it has never been a booking. For me the first one (from referee Andy Woolmer) is very, very harsh as well but I think that was just, well I am not going to say too much. "

" If it hasn't been (John-Francois) Christophe who has been suspended it has been Alan McCormack, and now it is Adam Barrett. So three big players have been out of the side for sending-offs and when things are not going well you need those players in and around you, especially when you have got a small squad. It is another player we have lost and with Francis Laurent being injured you are down to the bare bones.

" That is why to go two down and for those players in there to come back and have a right go, it is credit to them. Because things haven't gone fantastic at the club this year and we are in a dogfight but they haven't given up the ghost. They are still working hard for each other, still believing in each other, and fair play to them today for getting a point.

" I think they are showing character, they are showing plenty of that. We are just lacking a little bit of quality in the final third which we have done for some part of the season now. But you certainly can't fault the lads for effort and desire because they are showing that in abundance. But hopefully we can go and get a result on Tuesday night.

" We just want to get a result at home to Walsall however it comes, whether it is scrappy, whether we play well, I don't give a monkeys. We just want to get three points, but all you can do is keep giving your all like they are doing and you can't ask for any more than that, and hopefully things will turn round. "
