Swansea boss Roberto Martinez
City manager Roberto Martinez spoke to the Swansea Evening Post about his side's 2-1 win against Carlisle at the Liberty Stadium last night, Martinez talking about how proud he was of his players :

"I was very proud of my players and the fans kept believing in us which helped a great deal. Carlisle were very effective on the counterattack and played very well so we had to put on a complete performance to win the game. Every team coming to our ground will make it hard for us to break them down but we have shown that we can do that.

"It's a real test of character when you go behind like we did. We all know there are huge expectations at this club and that can work against you in a situation like that. But I was really proud of the way the fans and the players reacted.

"The players kept on playing, they stayed patient even though they were trying to break down a side with ten men behind the ball. And the fans stayed with them. If there was some frustration you could understand it because we are all human, but I didn't notice it if there was.

"I consider Andy Robinson's first goal at Walsall to be Darryl (Duffy's) because it hit his belly on the way in, and he also gets the credit for one against Millwall which went down as an own goal. And the winner was definitely Paul Anderson's. When Andy Robinson finds out the Tannoy announcer gave it to him he'll probably be claiming it, but it was Paul claiming it in the dressing room.

"The performance was very pleasing and I thought the first half was the best we've played this season. I believe you always get your rewards in the long term and it took a very long 90 minutes to get the rewards. But the boys never lost their way, they kept believing and kept playing the way they need to and that was very pleasing. The fans got behind us and they really made a different on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Scottish striker Darryl Duffy spoke about his first goal of the season :

"I probably should have run into the net to get the ball back to the halfway line, but emotion took over. I thought I'd done everything right in the first half with a header but the keeper pulled off a fantastic save. I thought it was going to be one of those nights again so I'm delighted to get off the mark for the season.

"It was so important to get the win, it shoots up right up there - we're only three points behind Carlisle now. It was vital to get the three points. We seemed to do it the hard way but we'll take the points however they come. We had a couple of chances in the first-half so we were a little bit disappointed not to be up at half-time.

"They hit us with a sucker punch at the start of the second half, but I thought we showed great character and belief in our own ability to come back and win the game."
