Danny Wilson
Town manager Danny Wilson spoke to BBC Radio Wiltshire after his side's 1-0 win at Brunton Park, Wilson extremely happy with the defensive showing that the Robins put up today against Carlisle :

" If anybody did question us I think those were answered today. Everything really stacked against us, the weather that these people up here have had to put up with over the last 48 hours is a real testament to getting the game on in the first place. The conditions are not ideal for both teams but we showed a fantastic professionalism today.

" We came up, we had the benefit of having an early goal which is always helpful but throughout the game I thought we looked very solid and determined. I thought the defensive side of our game was immense today against two very, very strong players in particular up the top in the second half we thought in Scott Dobie and Vincent Pericard. Then supplemented by the two wide players they have in Joe Anyinsah and Matty Robson. They are a real threat but I thought we stood our ground today and could have ended up with a better scoreline than it was.

" The conditions dictate it, of course they do, and we had the wind at our backs in the second-half but really got a good head of steam up in fairness. It was one of those funny games where the wind didn't really effect the two halves of the game. But I have to say it was a difficult game in terms of who you are playing taking away the conditions. But we have come here and this is a very, very big result for us today.

" Scoring is what Charlie Austin does, we have been trying to wrap him in cotton wool to a certain degree and get him up to the tempo you would expect him to play at. A lot of people were trying to force him in the team before that but we knew we weren't possibly right at that time. But over the last week or two weeks in particular we thought he was very close and you saw why. "

" He is just instinctive in the box and in fairness to him his work ethic is terrific, he has just run himself to a standstill today and that is what you want all your players to do. I bet he thinks he can fly home today but give the boy his congratulations because it is very easy to forget that he was only in the non-league three or four months ago, less than that. To do what he has done today is a credit to the boy as well.

" He has made it very difficult for the centre-halves, him and Billy (Paynter), they have made it very difficult for their two centre-backs today and their two strikers made it very difficult for our centre-backs. But thankfully we had that little bit of extra quality that we needed, but from a debut point of view it was a dream one for him.

" Between the pair of them they unsettle defenders all the time, they don't let them settle on the ball, they can't really find much quality because they are under pressure from the type of passing they would like to play. You can't fault them but overall from a team display, certainly in terms of work ethic, it was fantastic today.

" I think they found in the first-half that a lot of their passes were going for our dead ball kicks and it is very difficult. If you get your line right at the back and defend it well there is not a lot of space in which to play in behind us. I thought we did great in the first half, in the second half they played very high up the pitch and we found a little bit more space in behind them.

" We were a bit more of a threat in that respect, in the first half we defended deeper and denied the space in behind because we knew that was there the ball would be coming. But I have to say the two strikers that we were playing against were a real handful in the second half. In the first half I thought we dealt with it fairly well, in the second half I think the extra bit of muscle at the top made it more difficult, but I thought they dealt with it great. "

" The pitch is a credit to them isn't it, the fact that they wanted the game on is a credit to them. To get the work and the people here to get the game on is a credit to the local people and the groundsmen who look after the pitch. It is a fantastic effort, you wouldn't have thought 36 hours ago this game would have gone ahead.

" Thankfully from our point of view it did with the result at the end but I think they have done a fantastic effort and they deserve a lot of credit for that. Because a lot of teams would have just called the game off and said they are not really bothered, but thankfully from our point of view they have done well to get it on.

" I think you have got to come away from home and roll our sleeves up and we have done that today. We knew we had to do it, they are on a good run at the moment are Carlisle and although they are in the position that they are in the league, if you look at their results over the last six games they have had some good and very positive results, in the cup as well.

" So from our point of view this was never easy, we never looked at the table and thought that because they are there it is going to be a game that is going to be a pushover, we never thought that. I think a credit to our lads, we have come up here and had a real good go and we have come away with a great result.

" It didn't matter if there was only one fan made his effort today, we were prepared to go over there to them and thank them for their support. This is a very, very tough journey and I was surprised we saw that many quite honestly. But that was fantastic support from their point of view, we thank them for that and I think all we can do really is try to get the three points for them. Thankfully we have done that and it might be a bit of an easier journey for them. "

" Players are not tired when you win, when you win it makes a big difference I promise you. If we had lost it would have been very sad and picking them up is a bit of a slog at times. But after a result like that and playing like they did today, the resilience they showed, they will be ready for Tuesday. It will be a great game for us on Tuesday now, we have got Huddersfield at home and then Wrexham in the cup, let's hope we can have a fantastic seven days.

" We are still hopefully in the process of getting something loan-wise. We might have something over the weekend or a positive reaction, I will look at the results tonight and know who the players are as to whether we have got a chance. You can never say it is definite until you get them in your club but we are very hopeful and we are very positive something will happen in one or two cases.

" They are two players from the Premier League and the Championship and you will wait and see what positions they play when we get them. We want to get these two players and it will take us up to January if we can, and then we can have a look at January again. With a bit of luck we can do something for a longer period with them, again, I am not one of those who promises and can't deliver. We would rather just make sure we have got these two players and tell people about it, we will work over the weekend and hopefully we can bring somebody in.

" We have said all along in the league that we want to get to January and still be in touch with the teams above us. This result today was a big result, particularly with not playing last week, we had lost a little bit of ground in the league which is expected with not playing a game. But points-wise it was important we got maximum points today to keep us in touch.

" Southend had a good result last night, I haven't seen the results today but it gets us back in touch with some of the top teams. With our game in hand, which is a terrific game to have at home against Leeds, let's hope we can make it to an even smaller gap. But this today was a big, big result for us and it helps us look forward to a terrific game on Tuesday now. "
