Grimsby manager Alan Buckley spoke to the Grimsby Telegraph about the 1-1 FA Cup draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park on Saturday, Buckley talking about how well a change in tactical formation worked out for his team :

"I think to go there and get a replay speaks a lot for the lads. I wasn't pleased with our football in the second-half. I don't think we had our football brains in our heads. But the way they competed, dug in and eeked out that draw for us speaks a lot - credit to them.

"We have three home games on the bounce now after spending a lot of time on the coach. To concede a penalty so late in the game - it's the story of our season really. If you look at Carlisle's excellent form and position they are in the league, you would have taken a draw.

"I thought we controlled the first-half. Our team-play was good and our passing and movement was good. We scored a fantastic goal from Paul Bolland and we looked comfortable.

" I was talking to John Ward before the game and he told me how, after going in 1-0 down against Leeds last week, they absolutely annihilated them in the second-half - so I was a little bit fearful of that. I thought we battled away and fought to keep that clean sheet admirably, but it just wasn't to be in the end.

"We work really hard with the players in training and a lot of thought goes into formations and systems. I tried something else in training on Thursday and they looked very fluent, so I decided to go with it.

"I thought the two big lads (Gary Jones and Martin Butler) worked well off each other up front. We haven't done a lot of work with them as a pair, but they are both experienced and I thought a lot of their work was very good."

"We're capable of playing our football against anybody. I don't think that we've had a lot of luck this season, we've certainly missed chances early on in the season, that is why we are towards the bottom of the league. When I take the team somewhere to play though I don't fear anybody.

"I'm confident in what I try to do and confident in the lads. We proved today in the first-half against an excellent team who has had a fantastic season as yet that we can control games and play football with the best of them. So let's hope that we can build on that although I've said that before this season. "
