Town Coach Martyn Booty On The Game

Terriers coach Martyn Booty, who was speaking to Huddersfield's official website, talked about the 1-1 draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park yesterday, and the departure of Town boss Peter Jackson two weeks ago :

"Andy Holdsworth and I both independently noticed that the linesman was flagging as they scored their equaliser and the only thing I can think he was flagging for was a foul on Matty Glennon.

"I'm not saying it was a foul on Matty Glennon, but the linesman hasn't waved his flag for anything else. I asked him about it at half-time and he told me he didn't flag, but it's not like there was somebody stood behind him waving a different flag! It's not like I was alone in seeing this - Andy saw it too.

"It was more annoyance at the goal we conceded. It was an incredibly bad time to give away an equaliser and we should have just kept the ball in the corner. We made a few wrong decisions and it worked against us in the end.

"I think if we had gone in at 1-0 we would have gone on to win the game. The performance in the second-half was scrappy, but we felt we had done the hard work in the first - we should have put the game out of sight in the first twenty minutes. I suppose that in the cold light of day, it was a good point away from home but it would have been nice to get all three.

"You have to carry on, as managers leave clubs all the time. It's obviously the first time I have experienced this as a coach and it was disappointing for me as Peter (Jackson) gave me my job. Peter did a great job at this football club and perhaps he was punished for his own success in the end. We had three good seasons and we know we have underachieved this term; but you know it is coming as manager of a football club, unless your name is Dario Gradi or Sir Alex Ferguson.

"When Peter left, it was our job to keep the lads going. We just have to carry on with our job until we are told otherwise. As the first-team coach, John (Dungworth) dictates what the lads are doing in training and it is my job to help him - the only major difference since Peter left is that Gerry is at training to overview the situation and to put his points across."
