Crawley midfielder Mike Jones spoke to his club's official website after his side's 2-0 League One win over Carlisle at Brunton Park, Jones saying that the Red Devils improved vastly in the game in the second-half:

“First-half the gaffer (Richie Barker) made it clear that we didn’t get out of second gear and he was probably right. We weren’t great but we improved vastly in the second-half and we got the three points, and it is a great result because this is a tough place to come. It was 0-0 and we weren’t really at it so we knew that if we stepped it up, the gaffer said just another 10%, get our second gear and we knew the game was there to be won for us, and we did to be fair, we kicked on and got a nice couple of goals and a good win.

“It was a great run from Nathan Byrne for the first goal, he is a very athletic full-back and he showed a nice little bit of class, a classy finish. So, it was great for him to get a goal and I thought his performance overall as well was fantastic. For the second goal Nicky Adams will argue it was on target, but it was a good goal. It was good to get a couple of goals, we could probably have even got more on the break there towards the end, but we will take the two.

“It is great for us to get a couple of goals, but a clean sheet away from home is brilliant, if we keep a clean sheet it gives the platform for us to go and win games. If they keep a clean sheet and we don’t score as wingers, midfielders and strikers then it is our fault that we don’t win a game. Fair play to the back four though, I thought the back four was fantastic today, they put their bodies in front of things when they had to and I thought Paul Jones in goal was brilliant as well.

“I am enjoying it here, I am getting fitter and fitter, I am all settled now so I just want to kick on now and I need to start getting a few goals. But, as a team we need to win games at home, we have done good on the road but your home games you need to win, they give you the platform to go away from home, and if you pick up the odd draws away from home and you are winning your home games then that is good. So, we will look forward to being at home on Tuesday and hopefully look to kick on.”
