Saddlers striker Will Grigg spoke to BBC Radio West Midlands and the Express & Star after Walsall's 3-0 win over Carlisle at Brunton Park, Grigg understandably pleased to bag the first Saddlers hat-trick on the road since May 2001:

“I think I hat-trick has been due to be fair, I have had a few chances to get the hat-trick so it is nice it has come now. But, the lads were brilliant today, the first-half we have dominated the game and we were a bit sloppy towards the end of the first-half but in the second-half we really could have got five or six.

“The back four were solid with another clean sheet and going forward we could have had six or seven goals, so it was a great team performance. As a team we are taking every game as it comes and we have got a big game on Saturday at home. So, after that we will be looking to the next game and the next game, so unless we are mathematically impossible at getting into the play-offs we will still be trying.

“It was another good penalty but the main thing was that it went in, and I was feeling confident so it was good. We stepped off it a little bit after the penalty, which was a bit frustrating but obviously getting the second goal killed the game off and we were in control from then on. We had a few chances and it felt like that second goal was never going to come.

“They have got some big lads upfront and they were going quite direct and it was tough for the centre-backs, but Paul (Downing) did a great job and then when the second goal went in we could relax a little bit, and we were pushing forward even more. For the second goal I am pretty confident with either foot and I think maybe the defender (Sean O’Hanlon) was expecting me to go with my right foot, so it is nice just to be able to switch it up every now and then, it gives the centre-halves something to think about.

“Febian (Brandy) was making great runs all game, he was getting at the full-backs and he was cutting inside and getting at the centre-halves. That is something we have worked on, we have watched DVDs of Carlisle and they really struggled with players running at them so with Febian and Jamie Paterson they are the perfect players to do that. Febian has done amazing for the third goal and obviously it is simple for me, but he has done really well.

“I have managed to get the match-ball off the referee (Paul Tierney) and they have let me keep it, so it is nice. We have got a pen so the lads can sign it on the bus and then I am not sure what I will do with it, I am sure I have got a little place for it at home. If I get to 20 then I’ll be very happy, it’s got to be the target. Last week I was saying 15 or 16 but now we’ll see what happens, I’ve come on massively. My first season I was a bit-part and last season started off OK but I had a little blip in the middle of the year."
