The 21-year old defender signed for the Blues in September 2007 after surprisingly turning down the offer of a professional contract from Birmingham City. Campion making four appearances for the Cumbrians during his 16-month stay at Brunton Park, including two away starts against Hereford and Colchester earlier this season.

Reports have suggested that he has been on the edge on the discipline side of things though and with very little coming out of the club it was left to Workington boss Darren Edmondson to put some more meat on the bones. Edmondson having recently had Campion on loan at Borough Park for a month where the 21-year old made two starts and scored one goal in a weather affected spell, Edmondson commenting to BBC Radio Cumbria :

" It was a little bit up in the air last week as to whether he was going to sign or not for a second month because I was aware that there may have been something going on with Darren on the disciplinary side. So I had to just let Greg (Abbott) and Carlisle United get on with that.

" Unfortunately for us it has gone the wrong way so we have to move on without Darren. I knew last week that Darren might not be with us because he has had disciplinary problems at Carlisle and today was sacked basically. So Darren has gone back to Birmingham and won't be joining us. "
