Since losing that match the Cumbrians have played at Bury three times in the last five seasons, drawing 1-1 in April 2003, winning 3-1 on Boxing Day of 2003 and also tasting victory thanks to a Raphael Nade goal in a 1-0 win early on in the 2005-06 League Two title campaign. Carlisle's record at Gigg Lane is actually quite good overall as they have limited Bury to just six victories in the 15 games contested.
The Blues will face a Shakers side who struggled all last season in League Two, Bury eventually finishing 21st to avoid the drop into the Conference despite suffering a thumping 12 defeats at home in 23 league outings. The Lancashire club will be hoping for an improvement on the field though after appointing Keith Alexander as their Director of Football in May, ex-Lincoln boss Alexander now working alongside current Shakers manager Chris Casper at Gigg Lane.
