The Hatters were only 3-0 up against local side UE San Jose though when the game was stopped in the 85th minute due to the Spanish linesman collapsing and having a fit on the far touchline. It took 40 minutes for an ambulance to take away the official who apparently stopped breathing at one point, although early reports suggest that he is not seriously ill.
County took the lead on 23 minutes when Tony Dinning and Michael Malcolm combined to set up Tes Bramble, the Hatters frontman rounding the keeper for an easy finish. Three minutes later Liam Dickinson doubled the Stockport lead with a cool lob over the advancing Ibizan keeper. Just before the break it was 3-0 to the Cheshire outfit when Bramble bagged his brace on the night, after a good ball by new signing Michael Rose sent him clear on goal.
After half-time it was tepid stuff to be fair, with County seemingly unable to make anymore headway, showing little pace down the flanks or invention in the middle. The only incident came with the one of the official collapsing, and the fans drifted away into the hot evening night as the referee finally took the decision to abandon the game.
Stockport starting line-up :
Carl Coleman. Keith Briggs, Ashley Williams, Gareth Owen, Michael Rose, Damien Allen, Tony Dinning, Greg Tansey, Michael Malcolm, Tes Bramble and Martin Woolford.
