FA Cup Third Round Draw Details

The FA Cup
First up for the Cumbrians is the second round step of defeating the Canaries at Brunton Park on Saturday evening though, but not only is the competition a good chance to progress to the third round for a potential bumper payday but there is also the opportunity with a win to stick another £27,000 in the coffers on the way, although the Blues will earn £67,500 from the broadcast rights alone of the tie against Norwich being shown live on the FA website.

The prize fund, which in these times of recession is down by about 5% to 10% in each "proper" round from last season, breaks down thus :

Second Round Proper Winners - £27,000
Third Round Proper Winners - £67,500
Fourth Round Proper Winners - £90,000
Fifth Round Proper Winners - £180,000
Sixth Round Proper Winners - £360,000
Semi-Final Losers - £450,000
Semi-Final Winners - £900,000
Final Loser - £900,000
Final Winner - £1,800,000

The draw will be broadcast live from Wembley on ITV1 at around 3.55pm on Sunday following the Kettering Town v Leeds United tie, and if we defeat or draw with Norwich then Blues fans will be on tenterhooks as we wait for the number 56 ball to appear and the name of Carlisle United to be read out. As for the draw makers, well the duo this time around are British Olympic legend Sir Steven Redgrave and England Women's star Kelly Smith.
