19-year old first-year professional Ferris links up with Tommy Cassidy's injury-ravaged side and goes straight into their squad for their home match against Farsley Celtic tomorrow. The Carlisle-born frontman suffered a bad knee injury last season and with first-team opportunities limited and no reserve games scheduled for three weeks he has been sent out on loan to the Reds in order to get some matches under his belt.
Workington are down to the bare bones player wise for the Farsley clash as unavailable for selection are Wayne Gordon, Tony Nicholson, Ian Arnold, Dave Hewson, Dean Douglas and Darren Edmondson who are all sidelined through injury. Meanwhile striker Neil Tarrant is away on loan at Gateshead, and this week one-time Carlisle left-back Tom Cowan left Borough Park to sign for Reds' Conference North rivals Hucknall Town, a club nearer to his Sheffield home.
The Reds have also signed 37-year old ex-Gretna midfielder Danny Lennon, who was recently released by the Black and Whites, as boss Cassidy looks to bolster a squad which is likely to feature four reserve team players on the bench tomorrow. Experienced Whitburn native Lennon also lists Hibs, Raith, Ayr and Partick Thistle among his former clubs.
