With the promise of a Premier League goalkeeper in on loan for the start of the season seemingly now having sailed away into the distance, United have taken in former Gretna stopper Greg Fleming on trial as they continue the hunt for a back-up goalkeeper to Mark Gillespie. 26-year old Fleming having also played for Chesterfield, Galway United, Oldham and home-town side Dunfermline throughout his career.
His last club was Conference Premier side Grimsby though, with Fleming having been released by the Mariners at the end of a one-year contract last season after playing just three games for Town. He will now find himself in the squad this weekend though for Carlisle's pre-season Scottish double header at Kilmarnock this evening, and then away to Rangers tomorrow afternoon.
