In League One as a whole in that period there were a total of 475 player transactions, the total agents' fees for however many of those deals involved payments to an agent being £479,853. Only half of the 24 clubs in League One committed to pay the services of a licensed agent in those six months.
The non-payers being AFC Bournemouth, Cheltenham Town, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers, Gillingham, Hartlepool United, Huddersfield Town, Northampton Town, Nottingham Forest, Port Vale, Swindon Town and Walsall.
So, onto Carlisle's wheeling and dealings in that six month period, the Cumbrians were involved in 13 total player transactions. Those spilt into six new registrations or transfers, four cancelled contracts and three loan signings. United's total spend of £10,000 on agents' fees is down £20,000 from the £30,000 spent in the six month period from July to December 2007.
Of the 12 clubs that did pay for the services of a licensed agent the Blues come out 10th in total spend. Leeds United unsurprisingly leading the way with a £200,000 spend, not far off half of the division as a whole, while Tranmere Rovers did things much cheaper at the bottom with a spend of only £2,000.
