In League One as a whole in that period there were a total of 542 player transactions, the total agents' fees for the 35 deals involving payments to an agent being £740,160. Only 14 of the 24 clubs in League One committing to pay the services of a licensed agent in those six months.
The non-payers being Cheltenham Town, Crewe Alexandra, Hartlepool United, Hereford United, Millwall, Northampton Town, Peterborough United, Scunthorpe United, Swindon Town and Tranmere Rovers.
So, onto Carlisle's wheeling and dealings in that six month period, the Cumbrians were involved in a bumper 23 total player transactions. Those spilt into seven new registrations or transfers, three updated contracts, two cancelled contracts and a hefty eleven loan signings. United's total spend of £20,000 on agents' fees is down £10,000 from the £30,000 spent in the same six month period from July to December 2007.
Of the 12 clubs that did pay for the services of a licensed agent the Blues come out joint ninth in total spend. Leeds United unsurprisingly leading the way with an enormous £346,500 spend, not far off half of the division as a whole, while Oldham Athletic did things much cheaper at the bottom with a spend of only £4,500.
