The Liverpool-born teenager netted a remarkable 55 goals for the youth team over his two seasons with Eric Kinder's YTS team, and that despite being on the sidelines for a lengthy spell with an ankle ligament injury. The 18-year also in the latter stages of last season making his first team debut as a substitute on two occasions, firstly away to Bournemouth and then at home to Colchester.
Salmon is able to play as a straight out centre-forward but is also able to drop further back into the hole and create chances, something he has often done at youth team level. He also becomes the first of Carlisle'e eight players to sign the contract he has been offered, with Brandon Gwinnutt. Danny Livesey, Jack Lynch, Lee Miller, Alex Salmon, Paul Thirlwell and Josh Todd still all yet to decide their own Brunton Park fates.
